The Stormy Race

Feet Running, heart pounding, looking for shelter
Which way to go, North, South, East or West
Turbulent storm, brewing so helter and skelter
So tired, lost, no energy, badly need to rest

Fear of the blackness, lightening, banging thunder
Racing to beat the storm, searching for a trail
Can't stumble, must keep on, don't blunder
No answers, suffering, keeping the storm at bay

So weak, feeling desperate, such a time of despair
Must win, can't lose the race, keep on running
Storm falling behind, more distance, more fair
Keeping ahead, renewed energy, no longer sinking

A ray of hope, the sky is clearing, clouds are gone
End of the tunnel, the race is over, seeing the sun
Now uplifted, mind is clearing, no need to frown
Healing, staying on top, no further need to run

Furry Friends

Freedom describes beautiful birds flying in the sky
Everyday these feathered creatures struggle to survive
If birds wings were clipped, how would they ever fly
So joyful to observe them in the sky performing a jive

All birds and animals are a wonder to behold and study
An example is the wolf who tends to live in a pack
The males choose their female mate to be their buddy
Spending their time hunting, which beats buying a big Mac

Chipmunks are ever so cute, searching around for food
So very tame they become by taking food from your hand
And then there are the red squirrels that can be so rude
They snatch food to tell us, they are so clever and grand

Wild furry rabbits have to struggle everyday for their lives
Having all kinds of enemies like humans, dogs and cats
By a hair's breath they escape plates, forks and knives
Defying their enemies by not becoming fluffy fur mats

Who other than a raccoon is such a mischievous beast
That struts around wearing a beautiful ringed tail
Always searching through garbage and dumps for a feast
Yet they are playful and funny and aren't very frail
