Tsunami Aftermath

Countries around us, destroyed, by natural phenomena
Like the Indian Ocean Tsunami, which have happened before
Along coastal shore lines of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans
Unexpectedly leaving destruction, in their wake

Taking so many lives - and so many more people still missing
As a result of this devastating occurrence of December 26, 2004
Leaving a feeling of helplessness amongst those who survived
Still searching for loved ones in the aftermath, never forgetting

What has happened to them, and all others who were affected
By the Tsunami waves that took their families, homes, livelihoods -
And so many children homeless, forlorn, feeling hopeless and alone
Looking through age old eyes, not understanding what has happened.

Tugging at one's heart, hearing the sound of their internal
Cries and anguish kept inside, not yet released to those around them
In the Red Cross and World Vision shelters providing for their care,
Giving them surrogate love, food, clothing.
For this, we bless them all

Also for the good deeds done, helping these people in the aftermath
From private sectors, businesses, musicians, governments, schools -
And never forget, those selfless children who collected on their own
To help towards the aid of the victims of the Tsunami aftermath.
