I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. I now reside in Shreveport, Louisiana. I am 18 years of age, and I have been writing since I was 7. My first poem was entitled, "For you My Mom." It was a Mother's Day poem. My mom loved it so much she showed all of her friends and all of the rest of the family and I had to read it in front of the church. Everyone told me It was a beautiful poem and how much they enjoyed it, and I enjoyed entertaining others so I began writing poems every other day. Many people, now that I am of age, tell me that my poems could use a little work here and there, but when I tell them I only write in freestyle they seem amazed. Every poem I write is a freestyle poem. I never change one word after it has been written or typed. I just hope I can be an asset to this page.

Hi-

My namer is Ed. I call myself the Roving One, out of respect for my highland ancestors. For anyone not familiar, Rovers were like wandering story tellers and minstrels, who tended sheep, worked the fields, carried news from place to place, and walked the dark roads of the Scottish highlands and coast, and sunny green Ireland. They could be traced back to the days of the Celts. The happy spirit of them was best personified in the Poet Laureate Robert Burns, who penned such notables as Auld Lang Syne, Comin' through the rye, A Red Red Rose, and hundreds of lesser known little ditties.

Like my hero, I love to write the romantic verse. And, to capture tales of the land here in Washington and the Northwest. I love the sea and the natural beauty that makes up our famous heritage, and write about it often. My work has been published, mainly in periodicals and the occasional local arts magazine. My other work includes short character sketches and a column in the Oregon Singles News.

As, for myself, I am a great fan of the age of romantic verse, as well as well as chalderns poets. I write a good deal of simple fare for children, which I call my "Coloring Book Poems." And, it is my hope to sell my works one day in my own coffee shop and gift curio, under renovation from an old cottage, in the wooded back steps of Anderson Island in Washington's Puget Sound.

Years have now passed from my reach,
still from their memory I do beseech,
the moments passed that I wish to savor
as I extract the sweet and the bitter flavor.

Years ago as a growing child
I would often laugh and wear a smile.
I loved to hunt and fish and play
as I went through childhood day by day.

Years did pass and childhood went
though still in youth my life was spent
hardships few within my song
as my days continued to pass along.

Time went by as I went to College
responding little to higher knowledge.
Learning still felt a constant bore.
I volunteered to join in a foreign war.
.
The war did pass and I did return
though now in Hell my soul did burn,
My country I now felt did deceive
so from its' service I took my leave.

Returning to the learning game
a more somber man, not quite the same.
Still with friends, I could find my laughter,
while I gained the degree that I was after.

Learning still was not my goal
but the confirming paper would give more control,
ensuring that with the passing of time
having the sheepskin, I would do just fine.

An attractive young girl did me espy
and she set her course to catch my eye.
She joined my friends in happy discourse
displaying feelings of joy to alter my course.

Believing that I was her total ideal
reciprocal feelings I felt I did feel.
After We married in the church of her father.
My joy she revealed as her constant bother.
.
But a sentence that's stated can not be repealed
and so for years was my laughter concealed
No joy found in constant complaint
the flight of the soul with friends under constant restraint.

Years of acquisition were then in store
as she bore the children that I grew to adore.
My smiles and my prides now quite a few
for my joy was now found in the way that they grew.
.
Seeds that were planted to grow into flowers
becoming my joy as I now passed the hours.
Few friends of course behind a growing wall
constructed by hate that brought about my fall.
.
The flight of the soul still under preemption
to avoid display of hatreds contention.
Little laughter found if not for the flowers
still life was consuming the years by the hours.
.
Hours to work and hours to weep
now became years in a semblance of sleep.
and the sleep a way to pass the time
and avoid contemplation of a life with no rhyme.
.
Sin now commited in a show of resistance
became justification for hatreds insistance
adding derision to the flow of my time
decreasing the laughter that could flow from my mind.
.
Then with the use of an electronic tool
I found I could make friends by playing the fool
a fool filled with wisdom that had now endured years
of agonized contention without sheding tears.
.
The friends are lifting my soul and giving back my laughter
with foolish symbols and smiles for the years hereafter.
and life now has reason and it completes me with rhyme
of years spent laughing in friendship as I finish my time.

My name is Lisa. My last name is not important. I was born. I exist. I suppose this would be the time where I tell you some amusing stories about myself and how I was an eccentric child who had no friends (that were visible). Well, forget that. Born January 30, 1980 to Linda and Joseph Kramas, Ellen Jean was an angel from the start. Her first night home from the hospital she slept the entire night. That was just the begining of her angelness though. At the age of 3 Ellen had a newborn sister. Her name was Janet. Janet was a little fusy, but Ellen wanted to take care of her and so one day when Janet was sleeping, keep in mind Janet was only 4 days old at this time, Ellen saw Janet and saw that she was without a pillow. So, Ellen threw a pillow on top of her. Well, after her mother found that she explained to Ellen that babies didn't need a pillow to sleep. So Ellen moved on. The next day Jabet was sleeping again, and Ellen walked over and saw that she had woken up, so she picked her up walked her to a chair and sat her down on the chair. Ellen's mom deciced that if Janet made it through her first week of life she would be ok. Ellen is now 20 and her sister janet is 17, and alive. Ellen has grown up to be a caring individual. She has had several hardships to overcome in her life, but feels that each one has impacted her and have made her the person she is very proud to be today. Ellen grew up in NH and is now attending a small liberal arts school in upstate NY, called Keuka College. She is a social work major.

Well here it goes, I am 19, and a U.S. Marine. I love anything physical, and love chess. I write poetry, and I don't think I write great, and don't think I ever will. I usually never change my poems after the initial writing, I beleiev it takes away from it, because the same emotion is no longer there. I am a lover, a fighter, and worst of all the protector. Ask for protection and you shall receive, for I am like the stone aged gargoyle who shall always protect those that wish it. At times even those that do not desire it. Words are the language of the soul, and I abhor the abuse of them. I was first sent to this world into my mother's heartwarming arms (and doctor's not-so-pleasant arms) on July 27th, 1986 in the grand ole' hick town of Paducah, Kentucky where everyone is either related, married, or both. I moved around quite a bit, once ending up in Mayfeild, Kentucky, then Lavergne, Tennessee, and finally in this wonderful place they like to call Smyrna, Tennessee, which is much less than wonderful, if I may say. Who am I? Or better yet.....How much do you need to know about who I am to appreciate what I do? Hmmmm. Okay! I am an Aquarius, born in January of 1967. I am a peacemaker, an orator, a diplomat, and an optimist. I am logical, yet romantic.... I yearn for happily ever after and yet expect hard knocks. My feet are on the ground -- firmly, and yet I still look up to the stars. I may be one of the few ex-wives who held on to her hope of someone to spend all of her tomorrows with. With patience, I'll find the love I've waited for all my life. But I won't waste my time looking.....I'll let him come find me. :-) My words have been with me for as long as I can remember. My father taught me to read at the age of 3, and I've been told I began putting thoughts together on paper even then. I have 2 beautiful daughters, and am heartened to watch my youngest attempt to compose her thoughts in verse. I prefer rhyme, but am not fearful of free verse. This world is so corrupted and somehow I was born into on the 17th day of march. Born with a broken collar bone and 6 weeks early, I had no name. I was supposed to be born in April, so they called me April. Go figure..=) (My other screen name is SilenceOfRain)

I live only with my mother as we live in a military life of always moving and exploring the world as we go along. I love seeing new places for free, yet than again its very stressful on the heart and mind. I don't always enjoy it but in the end I know I will be thankful for what I saw and learned out of my experiences.

I have a very wonderful fiance, named Jason. I love him with all my heart. When it comes to him, he's my inspiration to my writing. I'm very romantic so I tend to write a lot of poetry for him. I like the outdoors as well. Getting muddy and fishing with guys has always been one of my favorites. I have one husky and wolf mix dog and just recently my mouse died but its okay. I hope soon that I will get a python. As you can tell I love snakes.

Personality wise, I'm very conversational. I love to hold up a conversation and meeting new people. I'm very understanding and sweet about things. I can be a bit aggressive and wild at times and I tend to like to get out on Friday nights and do my own thing. Yet I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. Well, I'm probably boring you but if you have come this far and wish to know more (which is a miracle) than be my guest to locate me and start a convo!

What can one say in a biographical paragraph? I can relate bits and pieces of my life. Or I can just talk about some of the things that will let all of you know something about me. I teach English As A Second Language in California. Presently, I teach English through specially designed computer programs. I work at this job from 7:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. In addition, I teach two nites a week. At nite I teach a traditional class. It is an intermediate level second language English class. Art, music, writing, and reading are my passions. I have only been writing for about a year, but my senior project in college was done in rhyme. Since that time I have written some pieces in rhyme, however, most of my work is not. Basically I have seen what others wish to and try to avoid. Starting with being in the Air Force at 18 and got stationed in Wyoming. After serving my time and getting out, I moved back to St. Louis to be with my mother and sister. In January 1998 life decided to send Death after me. I was severely beaten and hospitalized. I suffered from a fractured skull, broken elbow, broken knee cap (resulted in knee surgery) and hand broken in 4 places. At the time of the incident I was consider DOA when getting to the hospital. Since recovering I have dedicated my life to protecting those I love and respect. Life is given to us as a luxury. We need to learn to give to it and not take or it will take from us. Since giving to life I have found my love (getting married September 2000) and have a child due August 31, 2000. I have a new life since January 1998 and plan to keep it until my time.

In my poetry aspect, I have been writing since I was 16. I write what I decide to. My poems are mainly of love and passion to despair and poverty of the world. I try my best to place the reader as the subject, so that they may have a full understanding of what is written.

Now with the hobbies: scuba diving, surfing, rock climbing, racing my car (1984 and 1988 RX-7), poetry and singing.

And remember all that words are nothing but words, but give them emotions and they will truly be understood.......

My name is Kelly, I am 13 years old. Some of the things I enjoy doing are writing poetry, listening to music, and talking on line. My favorite band is the Goo Goo Dolls. The lead singer has inspired me to write several poems. Most of the poems I write are about suicide, since most of the people I talk to on line are suicidal, or prentend to be.
At age 3, my parents got a divorce. I include this because although i personally don't think it has affected me, my mother thinks that hadn't it have happened i might be happier, or better able to cope with problems. One thing that has definitely affected my life occured on New Year's Eve, when it was turning to the year of 1999. During this night, my step father beat my mother up, and i was there to watch the whole thing. I haven't fully recovered from that.

My name is Debora L Kettle, I have been writing since the day i turned eight and given a journal, in which i wirte in everyday. I have not been writing poetry long a little under a year i would say. I write stories, a novel which is in the process of being published at the moment. I own my own accounting business. I am a very big traveler. I have been from the USA, to the Carribean, to Paris, to Russia, to Australia etc. I am currently attending Stanford University in California. My name is Frank (Frankie) Jenkins. Originally from Virginia, but have been living Florida for the past seven years. Started writing when I feel in love with sweet Pamela and could find no other way of expressing myself. I grew up as a farm boy so my love of nature was evident as I spoke of rambling brooks and endless forests, and of course my love was also rambling and endless. Only then she broke my heart and found another, and it was then I wrote of tragedy.
I try to write in as many different forms as I can. I love to experiment and never want to be typecast or grow stagnant. I am no different from many of you. I want to write the great American novel, have a number one song, write a screenplay that becomes a blockbuster movie, all of this in the same week.
Needing to progress as a writer is why I am here, listening from everyone's advice, taking notes, and inserting it into my style is what I hope to do. I was born and raised in CT and relocated here in 1984. I have been involved in the "arts" since age 4 when I started taking tap dancing lessons. I studied all forms of dance with emphasis on ballet and tap. I was fortunate to have opportunities to dance with Boston Ballet and New Haven City Ballet Co. I also studied the piano for many years. I also played the flute and guitar. I primarily play guitar now. I have written since I can remember starting with a Daily Diary - complete with the little lock and gold key!
I have journalized for many years and just started writing poetry in March of 1999. I have written many short stories and, truthfully, never had much of an interest in poetry. Through a series of events in my life, I started to write poetry. Now, I love this form of expression. Poetry truly comes from the depths of our being and has proved to be a wonderful healing tool for me. I consider myself a poetry "mutt" having no defined style in particular. I have been blessed to have met many wonderful poets on-line and always come away from a poetry room with new knowledge, insights and admiration for the people who have shared a part of themselves through their poetry.
By vocation, I am a Medical Social Worker. I am also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) -- those "special teams" called in when a disaster strikes. I am currently not working due to illness but, my primary vocational goal is to obtain a grant to make performing arts available to children and teens outside of the school system which will also incorporate art as "therapy." In addition, I am about ready to learn American Sign Language which starts soon. My hobbies include...working towards getting as well as I possibly can. I do weight training and endurance, roller blade, movies, and my first love, music. I love all kinds of music from metal to Celtic/Gaelic to Gregorian chants. I don't really exist, I'm a figment of your imagination. And for the pleasure of your imagination........ I'm a white female, born Dec. 15th, 1954. I currently reside in Ohio, but that may change. I have no family left except my two brothers, who live out of state. Everyone else has passed away. I've been divorced twice, first one out of high school for 3 years. He was a biker. I didn't know then that when you marry a biker, you marry the club. A lot of my "dark" poetry came from those days. The second husband I was with for 19 years. I had to have a hysterectomy (never had kids) when I was in my 30's and "he" thought I wasn't "all woman" anymore after that so, because I respected my vows, I stayed "untouched" for another 9 years before I finally called it quits. My "mad as hell" poetry came from those years. Since then I have met many men, touched many hearts, and learned to live again for me! Besides my poetry, I love to paint, mostly oils, and charcoal sketches. I'm laid back, not into frills. I love fishing, and yes I bait my own hook. lol.....I don't like spiders, men who marinate in their cologne or the witch on the Wizard of Oz. I don't eat Spam, I have no belly button fuzz, and I'm just your typical redhead with baby blues. I'm very much into listening to, telling, and respecting the truth. I dream of happy endings. If any of my pieces make you "think," "smile," "laugh" or "cry," then I've done my job. Life's all about touching a persons heart. My family is important to me as well, and they are very blended. (My parents were divorced when I was 3 months. Both have remarried other people with children.) I really have no clue what I want to do with my life. I know my mind and talents are my strong points, but there are too many to choose from. Oh well, time will tell...

I am an 18 year old high school senior, soon to be attending Cornell University under the assumption that I will one day attain a law degree. I have only recently become interested in poetry, at least from a writer's standpoint. I began writing about 5 months ago, but have already filled up a notebook. I have many interests and hobbies other than poetry, some of which include running (I run about 5 miles a day), politics, basketball, skiing, weightlifting, and debate. My worlds broken

my name is vance. lindsey vance. i was born in an underground cave near the north pole on may 9 1983. i grew up a very lonely child, out of the way of the evils of the world, just me, my dad and our wolf... "chaka". one very cold, barron winter, we had to eat chaka. yes, it was sad and i cried as i nibbled on a rib, but ... chaka understood. obviously i write poetry. i worked for a while in santas workshop writing christmas cards, then i moved to reno, where i still write, mostly for fun though. ive had a few love interests, including: chris (now deceased) , Josh (that didnt work out too well, ask him.. hell tell ya), and more currently, as in right now... my ex, dan (he has a gf... but... he hates her, he he) at this moment im in high school trying to graduate. well... thats all i have to say. have a marvelous day and remember... if life gives you lemons send them back and tell the waiter you want a damn bowl of cherries! ~lindsey
