Midnight

Midnight stalks the stars tonight
moves panther sleek in graceful stealth
swats comets' tails on cosmic trails
and spills a glitter's vial of lights.
Orion, hunter of the skies
draws his bow in glimmering arc
then lowers it in deference
to cimmerian huntress of the dark.
Moon glow, sentry of the night
keeps silent watch from light years far
and gleams a path to search out prey
while Midnight stalks the stars.
