"Family Pet, Close Friend"

 	We grew up together
 	shared many close times
 	summer nights
 	and winter days
 	you were the family pet,
 	but to me you were more,
 	a close friend
 	-
 	I hugged you close
 	whenever I had the need to cry
 	you never smiled or laughed
 	just had those puppy dog eyes
 	but you'd shake my hand
 	as a promise to keep a secret
 	you never once yelled at me
 	-
 	But often were those times
 	when I yelled at you,
 	for peeing on the rug
 	or chewing up something , like a toy
 	but even then you never cried,
 	you just gave me those puppy dog eyes
 	-
 	15 years together,
 	and today it all came to an end,
 	but to me you were more
 	then just a family pet,
 	you were one of my closet friends
 	and I'll always hold a place for you
 	in my broken heart
