She Stands
She finds herself in torment,
taking a road already traveled sometime ago.
For love had many promises and vast fortunes.
She was given the promises and he,
he was given the fortune.
Many lonely nights came;
many lonely nights went
before she came to terms.
Picking up the pieces,
sorting this, tossing that,
she remembers when until the final day.
A woman can stand alone,
a woman can be who she is,
but the alone is what she runs from.
Time brought her here.
Time will guide her.
She will lead herself.
Can she stand once again, but not alone?
She ponders this today,
and she slept on it last night
and wants to think of the ways tomorrow.
Tomorrow can answer; tomorrow, too, is time.
If there is real truth spoken from another,
then she will know.
She would rather live alone
than become someone's fortune once again.
So she studies those pieces she tossed so long ago,
and she studies those pieces tucked away.
Love wants in, and she would open
that door.
But when? Will tomorrow be too late?
If love is true for her, love will wait.
She stands again,
she stands with strength,
and she turns to face the truth.
