They Shall Live On

At the sunrise
And the setting of the sun,
I remembered...
And as the darkness appeared
And the light gave way,
As the chill of winter,
And the darkening skies
Came upon us,
I remembered ...
And my warm and tender memories of them
Blanketed the chill.
As each new spring meant nature's rebirth
And the heat of the summer
Brought forth a riot of color,
I remembered them
As they came to us...
So young,
So alive,
And ever so beautiful.
Autumn's falling leaves and
The beauty of their colors
Made me remember them
As they lived,
Who they were,
And how they loved.
In the new year and at its close,
I remembered them
And the things they did,
How they laughed,
How they played,
How they cried.
I just wonder sometimes,"Why?"
When I am tired and in need of support,
I remember them
As if they were near to comfort my tears,
To lend a hand,
And to help me carry on.
When I feel that my soul is lost
And lonely and sick at heart,
I remember...
God sends me the memories
Of those who've gone before,
And they show me the way
To reach out to my thoughts,
And to my dreams
Deep within my mind.
When I wish to share my life's joys,
And no one is near,
I remember them,
And sometimes I smile in my delight
And happiness comes back my way.
As the seasons change,
As the day turns into night,
And as the years go by,
As long as I live,
They also shall live;
And while they live,
I shall live
Together with them
Forever and ever
As I remember them.
