Love's Fight

The beating of one's heart
Is reminiscent of the emotions they feel.
Many things are shown through them
But none compare to that which love doth reveal.

Like a thief in the night and unexpected
It sneaks in and invades each life.
It begins to mulitply--exceeding all count
Cutting through as does a double-edged knife.

With no choice but to comply
We let this love on its own in us carve
A sculpture that will strive to thrive
So that no part of us will ever starve.

Creeping in from the midst of the unknown
Comes an evil spirit carrying a tempting bait.
Our souls too weak to resist this demon's gift
Give in and receive the emotion of hate.

Now love and hate, they do live together
In the hearts of every man who is in this hole.
But the power of love, together with the will of the beholder
Will spark a war in the depths of each and every soul.

Love and hate at war with each other
Are what cause each heart to be painfully broken.
Love's fight itself is more powerful than diamonds
And provides its beholder with a victorious token.

One must learn to control their heart
And the emotions they allow entrance.
But upon failure to resist these evil hindrances
One must know that love will victor in every sense.
