Forgiveness

When I committed the unthinkable
And he didn't wake up,
I figured I was a failure,
Until I started to learn much.

My Sunday school teacher said,
God didn't like that,
But he doesn't want you to put up a mask,
And he will forgive you,
If you ask.

So I got on my knees,
And started to pray,
God, I said,
Please forgive me this day.

Suddenly a feeling of excitement
Filled my every limb,
Then of sadness,
Remembering what I'd done.

So I went back to church,
Forgiven or not
And my Sunday school teacher said,
Do not worry my dear,
For God has forgot.
