Tonight
I try so hard but I cannot see
the beauty that lies within me
darkened day and blackened night
I just can't seem to find the light
Once I shone so crystal clear
now my light has disappeared
A hardened heart
a frivolous soul
no joy, no life
no purpose or goal
The light that once
shone so bright
has just gone out
no love of life
here this night

3) How long have you been writing poetry?:
I've been writing poetry for 20 years on and off.

4)What inspired you to first start writing?:
I started writing as a teenager and I was inspired by my emotions as a teen to write, in poetry I found a way to express my inner most feelings without having to express them out loud and it was a way to escape into a world of my own.

5) Comments about this poem:
Some poems we are inspired to write and others are just inside our head waiting to just flow from the pen to paper and we have no idea where it came form. This poemis one of those writes. I wrote this one night upon visiting a friends forum, I went their with the intentions of joining her discussion forum and instead found myself clicking on the poetry forum instead, when I entered the forum I clicked on New Post and started typing, this poem is what eventuated.

6) Have you had any professional work or have had any poetry published?
I've not had any professional work but I have had two poems published in a book called "Australia's Best Poetry" and another two poems published in a book titled "Voices On The Web". Both very proud moments for me as it has only been the last couple of years that I have had the courage to show my poetry to anyone including my family.

7) Other comments:
I'd like to say thanks to anyone who voted for me apart from myself...LOL and I'd like to thank Michelle for giving poets an opportunity to post their work have it commented on by other fine poets and also for running a monthly award...well done Michelle, keep up the great work ~HUGS~ Tracie
