For My Special Friend
The Poems on this page are written as a dedication to a very special friend currently incarcerated in the State of Texas.  One day her life will be complete.
Somewhere over the Rainbow
I am Forgotten

I sit within granite walls,
Living the present,
Undesired, but necessary.
I find no happiness with restraints,
Freedom eludes me, slipping away.
The touch of its frantic wings
Slip further from my dreams.
I cry in vain.
Society has hardened its heart,
No forgiveness for my pain.
I chase freedom as if chasing myself,
I am in the distance, running ever faster,
Out of reach, out of touch.
Death encompasses my soul, my mind.
My heart beats no more.
I am forgotten!
Our Own Little World

Dance naked for me, my love,
Writing your name in flowers for me to dream of.
Without crying, do it from the heart
For in the distance a songbird sings
Of such a delight for me to see.
Feel your way in the dark,
Letting your fingertips tiptoe over my skin.
Distant sirens and the laughter of birds
Come from your eyes.
Listen to the bedsprings creak,
While your velvet touch soothes bulging muscles.
We mention our dreams
Yet, the world screams of pain and death.
We listen to the sky for answers to love.
Yet, we continue to swim in ecstasy,
Until nothing else is left.
My Texan Flower

A flower grows in the Texan sun
A rose for me when the day is done.
Although devastated by the thorns of life,
I am taken with her without thinking twice.
Your beauty escapes the walls of despair
Holli, my love, I do really care.
Tiny creatures flitter and hover around
Cupids family shooting arrows abound.
Your heart bursts of love so caring and true
Never a day dies that I am blue.
Your heart does more than fuel my love
Its a crucial gift from God above.
You inspire my thoughts of poetry and words
Never before felt by meI am sure.
As days pass by, I think more of you;
My Texan flower of  love anew.
We no longer correspond.  Holli may have found another supporter/friend --June 2002
