Using Patterns in Photoshop

this is how to use patterns on pictures and graphics using photoshop. like this picture:

first open up the image you want to add it to in photoshop.

if the image is locked, you wont be able to add a pattern.

to find out if it is locked it will have a lock symbol on the layers pallette. [circled in greeen]to unlock it, drag the image to the new layer icon. [circled in red.]there should now be two layers, probably called background and background copy. take the background layer and drag it to the delete layer icon which is a trash can. cirlced in blue.

now once you have your layer unlocked you are ready to add the pattern.

to do this, click on the first icon to the left in your layers pallette called "Add Layer Style" select "Pattern Overlay"

once you are there it will automaticaly overlay the first pattern in your pallette.

choose whichever pattern you like. you can find some great patterns, here

after you've selected your pattern, set the blend mode to whatever you like. i prefer overlay.

and you're done.
