Aberdeen Blues
It is so foreign
With grey flats that turn the mood grey
Cold days that goes to the bone
Rainy days that make the flats even more grey
Cloudy days that dampen the spirit
Carousing may cheer my spirits

It is said snow looks nice
So it seems
But its a lie
It can make you fall
It can make you dirty
It is so mean and can make one foolish

Hopefully it may change
Summer and sunshine to warm our souls
To end cocooning
To awaken the spirits high
To inspire jogging and burning of skin
Cheerful with anticipation
It is not so blue after all
A bird view across King street from MacRobert Building,
Aberdeen University
River Don spring
i took a walk to the market
on my way back i stop by the footbridge
and gazed where river Don feeds the sea
the North sea must be a happy soul
being nourished with highlands fresh waters

where it enters the sea it splits
to form an island
birds colonise it

i sat on a chair by the footbridge
spring sunshine filtered through the morning soft air
a willow tree stood by the river side
its leaves, yellow, orange and red
reflecting the sun's rays as it pleases
A footbridge behind Hillhead student hostel
Laughter next door
Sited on my desk
Trying to do God knows what
School work - yes - School work
Attempts to concentrate paid futile rewards

The mind went wild
Like an insane hog it run berserk
Like a hungry bird it flow away
It flow to where there is food and confort

The mind was brought to reality by a laughter
Next door came a woman's throaty laughter
Enthralled by lover's playfulness

Nothing hurts more than that type of laughter
When the mind had flown many miles
To search for sunshine
Colour blind
A child innocently played sand castle
Suddendly appeared man of colour
A child to mother
'look he has nice tan but he is not on the sun'
No child
'he has no tan'
It is his colour
He is black
No mama
He is no black but brown
What ever you call it
Then I want to be black too
Lonely heart
It is raining again
It is two o clock in the morning
After dancing away the night at Ministry of Sin

They have switched off the heater
This cold lonely place makes me shiver
The bed feels like a  mortuary

Aberdeen where they are more people than smiles
Phoney smiles that melts away in seconds
How I wish I was under the blue open skies

I only have the sound from the radio
I do not wish to listen to the blues
There comes the sobering announcers' voice
A day at the gym
A headache, spring muscle, fatigue
The cure
It is exercise they say
On designer shorts and shirts I went to the gym

All bodies big and small
Were sweating to the bone
All in the name of fitness

It stings
They are ignoring it or pretending to enjoy it

All bodies big and small
Were straining to the bone
All in the name of sport

May be that should be my reason too
I added my body to that sea of bodies
The brother who despise his skin
The brother said
I do not like a white woman
Sharing her bed is like slipping into milk sheets

The brother said
I like a coloured woman
I like the whiteness of her thighs

I said to myself
The brother is confused

The brother said
I do not like a black sister
Her blackness may rub off my skin

I said to myself
The brother despise his black skin
