Ludicrous Loud Laugh

For Valerie and Christina

A desperate, despondent emu
who knew not he had the flu
thought the communists
had put him on their lists,
never quite understanding,
or imagining,
that that discrimination
would hamper Manda Panda, his love's
global circumnavigation
to him as she danced her way over the Alps,
reading maps, seeking solutions
to guide her through the world's pollution,
with all olfactories overpowered,
and a little less than an hour
to go, rounding 'round the evening sky
filled with a sleepy orange ornament,
and not knowing why,
she could hear a ludicrous loud laugh
calling out to her, "Oh, my Maya!
You are my raft
in this river of love.
Carry me to your yurt
where you always stop my heart hurt"
