The Words That are Hard to Say

Ain't big words, ain't tongue-twisters
Yet reluctance often overwhelms desire
with fears the heart's vision blurs
Only wishes remain as chances expire

Like a knight losing a lance,
Like a poet losing a rhyme,
A heart's courage is lost in a glance,
Words on tongue yet one becomes mime.

As time passes two hearts drift apart,
They grow hurt and turn blue
Because the mouth can never seem to start
to say to her, "I love you."
