Unexpected Bonds

Unexpected highs and lows you may find
An emotional toll it takes on your mind
As you wait for your child to finally come home
I will explain a few, as you read this poem

You meet other parents with children like yours
Even some that are on different floors
From all areas and walks of Life they arrive
Understanding your situation you strive

Exchanging stories of what you have been through
Sometimes holding hands is the best you can do
When other babies get to go home, it's tough
Though their parents are happy, for you it's rough

When the worst occurs, and someone's baby does die
You just can't help it, you will break down and cry
You feel their sorrow, and you feel their pain
Something that is very difficult to explain

A bond with people you may never again see
These are experiences that were meant to be
When your joyous day comes, to take your baby home
Remember the "other" parents in this poem.
