To care for a premature baby is tough
The doctors and nurses are just not enough
There are still others, who behind the scenes
Use hand held care with an assist from machines
The Respiratory Therapist watches her air flow
Suctions her as needed, as her young lungs grow
A careful balance of her blood gases is seen
Requiring a quick "poke", not just to be mean
Ultrasound may be used in many ways it's true
To confirm or deny what once was a clue
They can use it to check the heart or the brain
The results of which may cause you pain
X-rays are yet another tool of the wise
Helping to judge problems as they arise
Blood tests are common and seemingly too frequent
The first sign of trouble they are drawn and sent
Medication is sorted by the Pharmacy
It may be placed in breastmilk or given through I.V.
A team of experts who often don't get their due
I told their story the rest is up to you.
