Sara In The Looking Glass

I awoke one day and my surroundings were strange
Closed my eyes for a moment and my world did change
I lay on a cloud, yet I was snuggled and warm
My boundaries did change, but remained close to form

With my eyes still closed, my hands and feet did explore
My ears heard everything, even the close of a door
A sudden touch of a hand, made my hair stand on end
I raised my hands, my only way to defend

My ears are like clay, they don't hold their shape
When I touch my lips, all I can feel is the tape
I get bracelets with ropes attached, on my legs and arm
They say the "stickies" with wires, won't cause me harm

They wrap my bottom with it's own blanket
But they take it away if it should get wet
As my eyes open, I see Mommy and Daddy
Their touch is so gentle and I know they Love me

The nurses and doctors know just what I need
But sometimes this means a "poke", and sometimes I bleed
These plastic walls are my living quarters for now
The day I go home, the staff should take a bow.
