Okay ya'll, this is my first review, so take it easy on me!!
"Bringing Down the House", starring Steve Martin, Queen Latifah, Eugene Levy, and Jean Smart, is a story of two people meeting in a YAHOO!(*wink wink*) chatroom and getting together...Once they meet, that's when the fun starts to happen. Eugene Levy plays an associate of Martin, who likes to dip in the swirl when he meets Charlene (Latifah). When me and my friend went to see this movie, we were both praying that it would be hilarious...and not forcefully funny, but actual natural humor. OHMYGOD!!! This movie was so fucking funny...I almost died laughing!!! But, if you can't take racist humor, you should not see this movie...there was A LOT! It was really wild!! And the sub-plots of the movie are really good too..nothing was too dramatic, so it kept a nice easy feeling of the movie. But back to the racist humor. I live in DC, so there's a lot of black people here. I also went to a ghetto-ass theater..if you live in DC u know which one i'm talkin about. So, my friend and I sat down in our seats, and there were three white couples near us: one in front of us, another to the side of us, and another behind us. There are certain parts in the movie where the jokes are on us black folk, but then there are even more jokes about white people(they were seriously funny too)! The two couples to the side and behind us were cracking up laughing, but the white people in front of us didn't laugh at all...through the WHOLE movie!! I don't know how they managed that..they either had sticks shoved so far up their asses that they couldn't move at all...or they just didn't get the jokes...and I find that real impossible.
This movie was done extremely well..The plot was real good, the humor was enough to keep you happy, and a good mix of drama that it kept you awake. This was an all around great movie. I give it 3 roses!!! Queen Latifah was great, and once again, Steve Martin proves his game!!
