The gift of my poetic voice
in words that I express
Feelings and thoughts of my world ~
both sorrow and happiness.

Sharing what is in my heart
as I ponder thoughts today
These words I write to express
all that I want to say.

Seeing the world through my eyes
the words in which I share
Bringing joy to all who read
and comfort, everywhere.

The expression of the heart and soul
like wind beneath the wings
Of dreams we wish and thoughts we feel
of love and heartfelt things.

The whispers of my heart and soul
that echo in my mind
To bring the gift of expression
through the winds of time.

The poetic voice of all I feel
these words that I express
To share life through my eyes ~
the heart of a poetess.

"For as long as I can remember I have written poetry. I found it a useful tool in expression for things that I couldn't normally say, and for a creative look at other things. My first poems were not very good (*chuckle*) and I have since lost many of them from my early school years. I remember one of my first was about the holidays we used to take as kids to our caravan up the coast, and I was describing all we'd do with swimming and fishing (boring) etc. and throwing in a "Tooheys" can of beer for my dad, although dad has never been a big drinker!! My creative expression in poetry, and sometimes short stories, really surfaced and was nurtured during my high school years ~ some of which are featured on my site. I remember writing a poem for my brother for school and the teacher advised him to stop having me do his work for him (chuckle).
All in all, poetry has become a very big part of my life ~ a form of expression. And I aim to bring joy and encouragement to all who read my work."
