The
Boulevard of the
Broken
Teen
When
I was 14 I fell in love
with
the dreamiest guy around
Every
girl had envied me
the
love that we had found.
When
I 15 I fell pregnant
and
was kicked out of home
But
with my boyfriend there for me
I would
never be alone.
When
I was 16 I married him
and
had a baby girl
We both
loved and cared for her
she
was the light of our world.
When
I was 17 I divorced him
he became
abusive and drunk
Belting
me every other day
no longer
my dreamy hunk.
When
I was 18 I hit the streets
and
lived on sex and drugs
My home
is just the pavement now
and
my bed is shared with bugs.
Now I'm
19 and all alone
living
in total despair
They've
taken my little girl away
but
doesn't anybody care?
But next
year I'll be 20
I'll
regain my life and name
I'll
get my little girl back
then
I'll start all over again.

"This
poem was written for school not on personal experience, but about some
aspects of society. Here I chose a young girl who fell pregnant at an early
age and in the trap of an abusive marriage to the once school heart-throb.
This poem represents that not all those we know are "squeaky clean" and
we may not know them as we think, as in the case of the guy in this poem.
The story is dramatic though I examined all apsects and wrote about them
in one poem about this one girl."
