| Blind
Attack
He was
walking home one evening
with
his dog as his guide
When
he heard footsteps behind him
heavy
in their stride -
With
no time to stop and think
he felt
a sudden tug
As someone
grabbed his wallet
he was
being mugged!
He was
left there feeling stunned
as the
footsteps ran away
It had
happened all so quickly
what
could he do or say?
His
dog who was by his side
had
no time to react
As they
were left there standing
in this
cowardly attack.
Stolen
with his wallet
was
his weekly pay
A few
hundred dollars cash
that
would go a long way -
Gone
and left with nothing
to make
his ends meet
And
all he could tell police
were
the heavy running feet.
Although
he was not hurt
he was
still badly shaken
Thinking
it could've been more
than
just his wallet taken -
In the
future he won't carry it
in the
pocket at the back
The
memory still much to fresh
of his
blind attack.
It is
just so appalling
that
someone could stoop so low
To attack
a blind man in the street
on his
own way home -
To take
blatant advantage
of such
a handicap
One
really has to wonder
who
could do that?

"I wrote
this poem about a man that I had read about in our local paper. It saddened
and sickened my husband and myself that someone could do something so cowardly
as to attack a blind man. So I wrote this in dedication to him and his
guide dog.
To M.
Holman and Helga."
