Breakfast Fare
What do you like for breakfast?
Is it sausage, or bacon, or ham?
What about toast or a muffin
with butter and jelly, or jam?
Biscuits and gravy will stick to your ribs--
they're partial to them in the South.
In the East they like bagels and croissants
that'll melt right in your mouth.
They eat lots of oatmeal up North when the weather
is snowy, or rainy, or cold.
Breakfast burritos and omlettes with salsa
are big in the West, so I'm told.
Do you prefer your eggs scrambled,
or coddled, or poached, or fried?
If you fry them, are they over easy,
or showing a sunny side?
Then there are pancakes and waffles,
or French toast--fried golden brown,
and sprinkled with sugar or drenched with syrup,
with OJ or milk to wash it all down.
And what, you may ask, do I prefer
to have for my morning munch?
I'm easy to please. Gimme Pop Tarts
and a big bowl of Cap'n Crunch.

Frito Pie
Take a snack size bag of Fritos,
then you turn the bag on its side.
Cut a slit all along the length of the bag,
and squeeze till it opens wide.
Spoon in a gob of chili,
with beans or not, as you please.
Toss in some finely chopped onions,
and a handful of shredded cheese.
Add jalapenos if you feel brave.
Now dig in, it tastes just great!
It's a portable treat that's fun to eat--
beloved in the Lone Star State.

Marshmallows
Marshmallows floating in cocoa,
marshmallows baked over yams.
Am I a marshmallow maniac?
Proudly I answer, "I am!"

Marshmallow sauce over ice cream,
Marshmallow cream in fudge.
Marshmallow cookies would win every contest
if they had me for a judge.
They can be elegant in a fruit salad,
with oranges and coconut, mixed.
S'mores are a chocolaty marshmallow treat
on graham crackers, easily fixed.
Drench a marshmallow in chocolate and nuts
and hey, presto! Rocky Road candy!
Melt them with puffed rice cereal
for a crunchy treat that's just dandy.
But I think they're best toasted on a stick--
that is my humble desire.
I've learned to love them with charcoal skins
'cause I always set them on fire.
