How a Kitten Found a Home
The sign on the box said FREE KITTENS TO LOVE, REAL PRETTY. LOTS OF FUN. Once there were six of them tumbling inside-- Now there was only one. A Daddy and Mother and Boy and Girl Stopped and peeked inside. A little black kitten stared back at them With his green eyes opened wide. The children danced, and Mother smiled, But Daddy rolled his eyes. "Just look at him--so scruffy! He'll never win a prize." The kitty studied Daddy, Then he licked his ruffled fur. Stretching his paw toward Daddy, He gave a throaty purr. Daddy looked so funny, trying not to grin. At last he threw his hands up And said, "Oh, I give in!" When the family walked away it should be noted that No matter how the children begged, Daddy held the cat.

Froggy Love Call
A froggy longed to call his love, But never a word he spoke. Instead he said to the stars above, "Oh, ribbit! Oh, ribbit! Oh, croak!" He sang and croaked until at last Under the moonbeams dim, A beautiful bunny came hopping by And shyly smiled at him. Froggy sighed and rolled his eyes, And sadly shook his head. "Clean out your ears, oh bunny dear. Ribbit, not rabbit, I said." Froggy Love Call |

Breaking Rules
A tiny ball of orange fur Is curled up on my bed, Lying on my very pillow, Right beside my head. Whiskers tickle at my ear. Air that smells of milk Fans my face with every breath. His fur is soft as silk. Mother says it's not allowed, She swore she'd raise a fuss. But I believe I heard her laugh When she looked in on us. |
