How many of God's children were driven from their homes in October 1838 only to suffer death as their fate, on a thousand mile trek known as the Trail of Tears? How many of God's Children cried out in vain for their Mother's protection? How many Mothers felt the pain only a Mother can know, not being able to save her own sick, helpless dieing child...Up too eerily...March all day, from dawn to dusk... Solders on horseback with bayonets, and guns herring you on your way...Not enough food... Not enough water...Not enough rest...Too cold at night sleeping on the hard ground... Not enough blankets to go around...Up at dawn to march on and on... Far from home-Far from home...And getting farther with each step you take... You march on till your whole body aches until you barely feel the pain for nothing can ease the pain in your heart as you watch your child slowly pass away. How Many of God's children were laid to rest along the way, many unburied as solders hurried Mothers onward with bayonets at their backs. "We have to make twenty five miles before the end of the day." How many Mothers died with their children as they refused to obey. Oh what a grievous sight young Mothers carrying lifeless infants all day long just so they could bury their precious treasures in unmarked graves...Only to wake at dawn and continue on, leaving their children in the Loving Hands of God. How many Children went to God's everlasting home before coming of age, how many times did a Mother cry out in pain and anguish to STOP this outrage...watching children die day after day. As heartless solders looked the other way, "We have to make twenty five miles before the end of the day." Cherokee Sage's prayed day after day for a sign to ease a Mothers pain, their priers were answer... A new and beautiful flower grew every place a Mothers tear fell upon the earth. The Cherokee rose still grows today, God's Memorial to children who fell along the way. When you look upon your child today, remember the trail of tears... And the children who died in the dawning of their years |
