Goddess
of Love
Goddess
of love you have forsaken me.
I
wander through an eternal night.
No
longer do I see the fireflies kiss the grass at dusk.
Nor
do I hear the birds singing at dawn.
The
sunset holds no magic for me—
The hues that it paints no longer catch my
eye.
I
do not see the willow dance.
I
notice not fawns that prance.
The
ocean’s waves seem gray—not blue.
This
morning’s grass lacked the sparkle from dew.
The
music played, but I did not dance.
At
love it seems that I have no chance.
The
stars have all burned out tonight.
The
moon is pale—my only light.
Goddess
of love—I have offended thee.
Your
punishment is your absence—
A
heavy burden—a laden fee.
I
dwell in darkness—you have forsaken me.
I
live all alone while the world is asleep.
Goddess
of love—at your feet I weep.
