Alone in darkness is where I stand--
And no one knows me--
I am a lone grain of sand.
And no one sees me--
They just see the beach.
A pearl I will make--
To thee I beseech.
But tis not a pearl that I am allowed to be-
Tis only a part of what is known to thee.
So at last they see me no more than sand
And I am left standing alone in this land.
