Stanza 8
Then this ebony bird bequiling my sad fancy into smiling,

By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it
wore,

"Though thy crest be shorn and
shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,

Ghastly, grim, and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore-

Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian
shore!"

                                                   Quoth the Raven, "
Nevermore."

Description
In this stanza the speaker is forming a smile on his face by being oddly presented with this Raven. He doesn't know what to do so a smile grows on his face with disbelief. Also, he asks the Raven what his name is. To ask it, he says, "Tell me what thy lorly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore." The Raven, not at all worried about the question, answers "Nevermore."
