I am a Princess, you see,
Born of wealth and royalty.
I have only just turned sixteen years of age,
My parents would love to see me engaged.

They want to see me marry a man of wealth,
Doth not matter his age nor health.
Our kingdom must survive all matters of strife,
Hence the reason to become a rich man's wife.

But I have met my prince, here, in my heart,
He dwells in a land far off, keeping us apart.
He has no monetary worth, to be sure,
But he is loving with a heart that is pure.

He ascends to my room, each and every night,
Although at first, we were hindered by fright.
My parents would have him taken far away,
He would not be their choice on my Wedding Day.

My happiness is not what they seek,
Matters of the heart, I am not allowed to speak.
No one can ever know the state of their demise,
They must remain Regal in everyone's eyes.

But my love for him will not be denied,
I will be true to him and become his bride.
I will not trade happiness for a life of woe,
My life is my choosing, this much I know.

Me thinks only of him, I am consumed with need,
I watch and listen as he approaches on his steed.
He comes to me in the middle of the night,
And we bask in our love by moon's light.

He is my destiny, my heart's desire,
He fills me with all that I require.
Our love doth not know boundaries of land,
It matters not his worth is less than grand.

He is my Prince, and I his Princess,
I will not oblige any form of noblesse.
I am my own woman, I love whom I choose,
I will not be dictated by someone else's views.

To mine own heart, I must be true,
My Prince and I will bid everyone adieu.
As we ride off together, on his powerful steed,
My parents warnings I will never heed.

I do not wish them humility nor shame,
But I will marry my Prince and take his name.
Together, forever we will live out our dream,
I cannot be a part of their regime....
