Myrtle & The Turtle
Once upon a turtle time
In the land of turtle rhyme,
A lonely girl, her name is Myrtle
Found a small lost little turtle.

"Hi there Myrtle," said the turtle.
"Could I live here with you?
I'm feeling lost and need a home.
My shell, could use shampoo."

"Shampoo your shell?" Smiled Myrtle.
"You silly, silly funny turtle!"
"You know turtles don't grow hair."
"To do so would be oh so rare!"

"Yes. It's true. We don't shampoo,"
replied the silly turtle.
"I have these dots, that you call spots.
Please wash my back, Miss Myrtle."

So, Myrtle washed the turtle's spots
Washed his silly little dots,
Shampooed his shell that had no hair
Till something started shining there!

A burst of magic light took place.
Poof! Appeared, a fairy face.
Adorned in frilly whitened lace.
Fluttered wings. Angelic grace.

"Thank you Myrtle" she said kindly.
"I'm not a turtle as you can see.
Your willingness to be so sweet
has won for you this special treat."

I'm a Fairy in a turtle shell,
that visits those who have done well.
I grant a wish to those behaved,
with my wand I gently wave.

So, make a wish my Myrtle friend.
Then your wish I'll surely mend."
"I'll close my eyes and wish out loud."
Replied Myrtle,  humbly proud.

Well Myrtle thought and thought and thought
About this wish that she had got.
She thought and thought and in the end
Wished for a little turtle friend.

A little friend to call her own
A friendly pet to keep at home.
A friend from this land of turtle rhyme
That would be her friend for all of  time.

The Fairy waved her fairy wand
Over the nearest turtle pond
The water stirred till brightly shaded
And out of it a turtle waded.

A little cute and friendly  turtle
Turtle waddled up to Myrtle.
She had a shell with little spots
Little funny silly dots.

Little spotted turtle feet
A dotted face, cute and sweet.
Myrtle named her without thought
She called her new best friend,  just Dot.

Just Dot and she have so much fun
For now there's two not only one.
Myrtle's not lonely anymore
And that's what friends are really for.
