| The day started with a stop by the Galveston County Courthouse where we registered our informal marriage. This is a way of putting a common law marriage on the books. While there we had to raise our right hand and swear that "on or about March 14, 2004 we did consider ourselves to be man and wife and did present ourselves as such and from that point on were not married to anyone else." We also had to sign a thing indicating we were NOT related any closer than first cousin by blood OR adoption. Grace attended and was photographer. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Next was a quick costume change for Trish and then on to Sacred Heart Church so Father Frank Fabj could lay his catholic mojo on the whole affair. Bern's sister- Sarah, his mom - Kathy and dad -Bob all attended. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Frank talked about how the Church takes marriage very seriously and considers it to be a physical and tangible manifestation of Chirst's love. And how important it was that we demonstrated this love for the world and one another to see. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We weren't expecting vows, but nonetheless, we vowed to love and honor one another, through sickness and health, good times and bad. Forever and ever amen. . . And then there was the kissing part |

| Despite admonitions that this was NOT to be a big deal, Bern's mom wanted more CEREMONY and tradition, so she showed up with a Unity candle. It was kinda random, but it makes for one of the best photos of the day. | |
