I've had some good questions recently:

Can the plays be updated to different time periods or cultures?  (Pam in New Zealand)

Answer: Sure!  With my plays, I give the freedom to adapt it to your situation.  The only thing I ask is that you do NOT reproduce the play in any way (no reposting on the internet or republishing).  And that the original author is listed as D. M. Bocaz-Larson.

Another good question: Can we remove/change a kissing scene since our audiences might not be comfortable with it? (International Islamic University Malaysia)

Answer: Yes.  You may remove scenes or use parts of the plays.   Please contact me first, but I usually give the okay.

I recently co-directed Beauty IS a Beast and it was a great success. I had 80 children audition and so I increased the cast from 22 to 36. Many did not have speaking parts...but I had a parent who did "English Country Dancing" and she taught the cast how to do 4 dances so the ballroom scene was extended and it was beautiful. And, the best thing of all was that everyone who did not have any lines had the opportunity to dance and everyone was happy including all of the parents! The only comment that I have that was a slight concern was that some directors may find it a concern that most of the stage directions are really left up to the director. We made out fine though. This is definitely one of the plays we will use again.

we are enjoying the ease and acessibility of the script, we feel it has a powerful modern message to young people who are obsessed with image and MTV heros and gangsters. the whole notion of inner beauty being valued is wonderful. we gave Andries his sight back at the end with the help of the fairy. any ideas on how to make the kids scenes a little more mature or sophisticated, evemn appealing to slightly older child audiences? thanks for the free drama!
