| Offensive These weapons are the meat and potatoes of Pocket Tanks. These weapons are used to earn you points if used correctly. Some weapons must directly hit your opponent to even work, other shots practicly find their own way to a direct impact for you. Understanding how Pocket Tanks' weapons work is a fundemental part in winning. Single Shot A basic blue shot that when directly hits your opponent will earn you 60 points. The explosion size is rather small so don't expect much damage from indirect hits. Big Shot Just like the single shot, but bigger - however, this shot's explosion size might be larger than the Single Shot's but it will only get you 30 points with a direct hit. 3 Shot Three small, blue shots. One shot is dead on, and the other two are 5 degrees off from the center point. Landing a direct hit with just one of these three shots scores you 20 points. 5 Shot Five small, blue shots. This weapon most effective if taget is uphill from you. Each of these five shot's direct hit earns you 20 points. Jackhammer A single shot that when imacts will jump straight up five times giving you 10 points per direct hit and a grand total of 50 points upon direct impact. This weapon will dig a small hole where it impacts which means you should always shoot a water type shot right after you use it. Heatseeker A single red-winged rocket that will slightly guide itself towards your opponent usually resulting in a direct hit and a decent sized explosion, (if used correctly of course =P ). This lil' beauty will bag you 40 points upon direct hit. Tracer This weapon will shoot five shots 5 degrees apart so that you can get an idea where you are aiming. You can then base your next shot on which tracer indicator is most accurate. Let's say the 0 degree shot did not hit the enemy, but instead, the -10 degree shot did, you must subtract 10 degrees to nail your opponent dead on. Unless you have two tracer weapons, you better save this weapon for a little later in case your opponent has one of the many "random reset" shots that mess up both your power and degree settings. Pile Driver This weapon will dig a rounded funnel-type hole which is the perfect setup for a water weapon. Also, it might be a good idea to fire a Popcorn/Burnt Popcorn shot after this at the same power and angle so that the popcorn will acually pop around and respawn. Hitting your opponent directly with this Pile Driver will give you 20 points. Crazy Ivan Once fired, this weapon must at least fly close to your opponent to become effective. Once the fired shot is close enough, it errupts into little blue rays that nail the enemy for 10 points a piece upon direct impact for a grand total of 10 to 50+ points. Also, since the explosion size of this weapon may be small, it will still subtract around 9 points if you try to dig yourself out of the dirt with this. Spider This weapon will open up into a bunch of silver rays when it gets close enough to your opponent. Each silver ray will earn you 10 points per direct hit. Shoot this weapon about 1 to 3 power too low for max effectiveness. If you try to dig yourself out of the dirt with this weapon it will explode and subtract around 100 points! Sniper Rifle This very small and discreet shot is either hit or miss. You must hit your opponent directly for this weapon to even work but it will gracefully add 100 points to your score upon doing so. Use your head and remember that you have this weapon when your are zeroed in. Also, this shot does have the ability to bounce on bouncy terrain. Zapper Once fired, this weapon must come fairly close to the enemy tank before it shoots a laser directly at your opponent always resulting in 40 points your way. If the zapper hits you or the terrain it will make a small explosion this can also subtract 40 points if you hit yourself. Skipper This small projectile will explode the fourth time it comes into contact with the terrain. It doesn't matter how many times it bounces it will deliver 40 points. Chain Reaction This powerful weapon is a series of small explosions that occur randomly around it's impact point. Expect around 75+ points for a direct hit. Pineapple When Pineapple gets close to the enemy tank it will explode into a circle of multiple raining green rays that will give you 30 points for each direct hit. This weapon works excellent when used with the Funnel weapon. Line the ground around your opponent with bouncy dirt for maximum effect. Over 100 points can be earned using this weapon properly. Firecracker This weapon is sometimes all bark and no bite. Earn up to 35+ points for a direct hit, however, more points can be squandered for a slightly indrect hit. Homing Missle Don't be afraid to overshoot this weapon because it will stop directly above your opponent, drop down and score you a fast 20 points. Perhaps it would be a good idea so save this weapon for later in the round? Tommy Gun This weapon fires twelve shots at slightly different angles. If each shot directly hits your opponent, you will be awarded 20 points. Earning over 120 points with this weapon would be cosidered a nice shot. Try using this with Bouncy Dirt / Funnel! Scatter Shot Once this small purple shot makes impact with a tank or the terrain it will break into a small fountain of five shots. Each projectile from this weapon gives you 10 points upon enemy impact. Cruiser The Cruiser can roll uphill to your opponent if it hits the terrain before it hits your opponent. It will only roll for a few seconds before it explodes. Expect only 20 points upon direct impact. Pin Cushion This weapon packs a deadly punch! If this projectile gets close enough to the enemy tank it will explode into a bunch of little green Zappers. Each small Zapper that comes out will strike the enemy adding 10 points to your score. Expect somewhere around 100+ points awarded if you hit your opponent directly. Laser Battery The amount of damage this weapon does largely depends on strategy. For instance, when your opponent is at the bottom of the playfield, (i.e. no dirt or terrain of any kind is under the tank,) this weapon will do much more damage. Each little red laser that hits the enemy will sink you at most 5 points. You can expect about 50+ points for a direct hit. Cannon Ball Ahhh - the mighty Cannon Ball! Thankfully, the Cannon Ball will bounce twelve times before it explodes. When it hits the opposing tank it will add a luscious 100 points to your score. The Cannon Ball can very easily be funneled, so remember to use this when the enemy is sitting in a decent sized, rounded hole. Wacky Tank Wacky Tank is an annoying weapon at best. When it explosion of Wacky Tank touches a tank it will mess up it's Power and Angle settings randomly. If you nail your opponent head on with this, you will get 40 points. Remember not to rely on Wacky Tank's explosion size - it's not much to gawk at, but the explosion's look is unique, however! Fission Bomb A beauty of a bomb. When used properly this weapon will dominate. When this bomb hits, it will erupt into a rather huge fountain of small, white falling projectiles that give you 10 points per direct hit. If you nail an out-in-the-open opponent, expect only 70 points. On a brighter note, nailing your opponent with a Fission Bomb while the opponent is deep in a new Funnel, you will reap the dashing reward of at least 300 points! Color Bomb Strategy plays somewhat of a role with this weapon. You shoot a ball that will stop when it gets too close to your opponent and release a bunch of different colored bombs that add 5 points to your score per impact. Expect 90+ Points upon "direct impact," though 145+ is quite possible. Also remember that when it comes to weapons like Color Bomb that explode when they get too close to the enemy tank you must remember that if your tank is very close to the other this bomb will explode instantly after shooting and will damage both you and your opponent. Potholes This weapon unleashes the fury of many slighlty off-angled type shots. Each projectile will score you 5 points upon direct hit. Sometimes you get lame points, other times 55+ points is very possible with this. Boomerang Don't be afraid to overshoot this weapon. Boomerang will cruise for a few seconds back towards your tank before it makes a decent explosion. You will earn 40 points for either a direct or an indirect hit. Popcorn This is a strategy weapon, just think of the possibilities! First off, directly hitting your opponent will result in only one pop and 20 points - which sucks. You need to aim the Popcorn a little in front or behind the enemy tank. The Popcorn will then sprout different popcorns that sprout popcorns upon bounces... blah, blah, blah. 140+ points possible! Sprinkler This weapon should be used when your opponent is out in the open. This projectile is a single purple shot that showers circles of smaller projectiles. Be warned! This weapon might hurt you, depending on what angle you shoot it at. Each small raining ray deals 10 points and a direct hit with the Sprinkler gives you 60. A grand total of 150+ points is very possible with this. Super Tracer This shot's style is exactly like the Tracer except it simple fire more shots. Instead of only a 10 degree spread, you get 20 degrees to adjust your next shot on. Using this shot on the first volley is totally up to you, use your own strategy. Minigun Similar to Tommy Gun, but this weapon fires less shots and is considerably less powerful. Each shot fired will nail 10 points to your score. On the bright side, the Minigun's shots are much more in sync with your true Power and Angle than Tommy Gun. Super Skipper This weapon is the same as Skipper except it's bigger and better. The Super Skipper will explode the seventh time it hits terrain. Super Skippers explosion size is rather large, but it's not reccomended that you try to dig yourself out of terrain with this. Hitting your opponent directly with this will score you 50 points. Crater Maker The reason Crater Maker is an offensive weapon and not a Terrain Mover is because it can earn you points. 30 points can be earned with a direct hit but since the explosion size of Crater Maker is quite hefty, a bullseye isn't required. This weapon is a good starter for a Popcorn or perhaps some Bouncy Dirt and a Fission Bomb? Super Zapper A new and improved Zapper! This shot does not have to get as close as the original Zapper to work, but you still have to get reasonably close. This weapon may be useful for scouting out a shot before you hit 'em hard. Direct hit or not, expect 40 points if this is used correctly. Also, managing to use the Supper Zapper on yourself will cost you 60 points, ouch! Mega Cruiser Mega Cruiser is a more macho version of the regular Cruiser in that it is a bigger projectile, it will roll a couple of seconds longer both up and down hills and other terrain as well. Overshooting this weapon is a complete waste. After nailing your opponent with this you'll earn 30 points and if the Mega Cruiser just happens to fall a small distance from opponent and explodes you may still reap a reward or two because the explosion size is efficiently large. Roller This weapon is sort of like Cruiser, but there are a few big differences. First off, this weapon will not travel uphill and it will simply explode when uphill is the only place there is to go. You'll get 30 points if you hit your opponent with Roller. Heavy Roller This weapon moved exactly like the Roller above meaning it won't travel uphill without exploding. Heavy Roller rolls a considerable amount further than the regular Roller on a brighter note and it's explosion is a little bigger too. Hitting your opponent directly with this will give you 40 points. Flash Blast Your tank will shoot a yellow, pulsating projectile that creates a large, circular flash that does not remove terrain. This is a good weapon to use after you bury your opponent with a Dirtball, Cruball, Rainbow Dirt, ect. However, if you manage to hit your opponent directly with this you will cash in for 40 points. Nuke Get yer honeys to the hills cause' theres gonna' be some fallout. Nuke travels in three seperate layers that can give or subtract you up to 40 points upon direct impact for a grand total of 120. The Nuke can earn you more points than the Mega Nuke but the explosion size is a bit smaller - not to say that Nuke is too small, however! Mega Nuke Mega Nuke is a pretty damn big bomb. This weapon is great for a noobie, but af pro just might want to pass unless they just like to clear a lot of dirt. Like the Nuke, Mega Nuke travels in three waves that deal you a maximum of 30 points upon direct impact. Expect no more than 90 points though. Pillow Fight The projectile for this weapon is of course - a pillow. If you happen to hit your opponent directly with this you'll earn 40 points. As a bonus, when Pillow Fight impacts it creates a very small explosion and about six feathers fly out dealing an additional 5 points upon direct impact. If your opponent is in a Shelter and you are zeroed in on them, use Pillow Fight because not only will the main projectile hit, but all of the feathers will as well. Pop Rocket You have to be very precise with this weapon because it does not have an explosion. This green projectile will launch the tank that it impacts straight up into the air either giving or taking away 50 points. This weapon can dig to an extent, but it will not hit a buried opponent. Actually, the digging properties of this weapon are strange. Sky Strike Under ideal conditions, Sky Strike can earn you 125+ points, the thing is, you have to be very precise. The main yellow projectile fired does not explode however when it hits a tank it will lift the tank into the air and then fire six rockets that deal 25 points each upon direct impact. Cheap Shot Take it to the face no matter what! Not even Cheney could miss with this! This weapon will automaticly pop your opponent and earn you 20 points, and there's no explosion. Also, you can even be buried when you fire this. Space Laser This weapon fires a laser that will be the center point of fire for a series of lasers that shoot straight down from the sky. The lasers will dig small steep ruts in the terrain they shoot. Space Laser is a good strategy weapon and it is not affected by bouncy terrain. For every second a laser is hitting your opponent, you earn 10 points. At least 60+ points can be earned with a direct hit. Bushwhack Some people enjoy a good whacking. Wherever Bushwhack lands it will make good sized plant-looking terrain grow out in a small area. Hitting your opponent directly with this will earn you around 55+ points and surely block someones shot. Less than 55+ points may be earned with an indrect shot and on a brighter note you can earn 150+ points if this the timing is right when you use this. Repeater Repeater is a good "If all else fails," kind of weapon. Wherever this white projectile lands it will shoot a bunch of projectiles into the air that will then land and make smaller projectile fountains that will eventually give you 10 points per direct hit. Expect around 60+ points for an open shot and even 140+ for more strategic shots. Orbiter The beauty about Orbiter is you don't have to be that close to rack up some points. You can miss by about as much as a Super Zapper with this. Expect around 45+ points for a slighlty missed shot and around 60+ for a bullseye. Barrage This weapon may just earn you some points. Wherever this weapon hits it will send six orange projectiles into the air that will heatseek your opponent. Each direct shot will score you 20 points. Mudslide Mudslide takes a little practice before it can be used to its maximum effectiveness. For a slightly imperfect shot, expect around 30 points. If you tag the opponent dead on (depending on the surrounding area,) somewhere around 55+ points can be earned. Water Creators The main reason why Fire and Water type weapons get their own category is because they are very characteristic in that they make either fire or water. Water will cause damage per second depending on how much water is actually touching the tank. You can easily loose points with your own Water type weapons too, so look out and remember that water always rolls down hill! Hail Storm This weapon is your basic Water type weapon. This will bring you 45+ points for a direct hit and even more when the opponent is steeply funneled because all water flows downhill. The steeper the funnel your opponent is in, the more points per second. It all boils down to how much water is colliding with a tank per second when it comes to the number of points earned. Sink and Swim Wherever this weapon strikes it will create four slo-motion explosions as it creates water to fill the hole. You should be pretty precise with this weapon because the explosion sizes are quite small, which makes for a decent funnel. Puddle Jumper Picture a really wet Super Skipper that splashes water wherever it lands. This weapon works best when your opponent is funneled. Expect weak points for a standard shot with this, meaning less than 30 but more than 80 points can be earned. Power Washer Wherever this weapon lands it will spawn a powerful spray of water that cuts through terrain. This weapon works in a spraying manor meaning it sweeps left and right. The good thing is is that this weapon works likes a high-powered Super Zapper so deadon aim is not a worry with this because the sprayer will automaticly go off when it's close enough to the enemy. Expect somewhere around 75+ points for any kind of decent shot. Fire Hose Think of Super Zapper with digging capabilities. This weapon may not give you that many points but it has uses a bit beyond just the points. Expect 40+ points for a "direct impact." Fire Starters Burn, baby burn! The fire-type weapons pack a serious punch and can bring you serious points if you're on your game. When playing the game; Fire will burn every second - adding or subtracting points to your score. Napalm This weapon erupts into a small concentrated blaze upon impact. Hitting your opponent directly will result in around 95+ points for you. Fire Bolt This weapon is sort of the Sniper Rifle style. Since Fire Bolt Sticks to everything, it won't bounce and wherever it lands - it stays. This small bolt must hit the enemy tank directly for a maximum of about 60 points or so. This weapon may be liked more by the pros because you gotta' be precise! Blowtorch You must be very close for this weapon to be effective. If used properly you will earn at least 90 points. Since the Blowtorch fires in a sweeping motion, it is best to aim a little low when on flatter ground. Terrain Weapons/Straight Shooters These weapons must be used in their own accordance. Below is a list of these weapons and a little snippet describing them. Ground Hog The Ground Hog weapon travels straight through dirt and then explodes either when it comes back out of the ground, when it hits your opponent or hits the bottom of the playfield. The explosion of Ground Hog is decent but if you get a direct hit your score will be increased 50 points. Worm This weapon is similar to Ground Hog except when you shoot it underground it curves up slightly. Once the worm has entered the dirt it will explode once it reaches the surface of the terrain. Since the explosion for this one is rather small you will have to go for a direct hit, remember, you don't have to shoot this weapon underground, it should be used mostly when you bury your opponent. You get 50 points for a direct hit. Homing Worm The Homing Worm is much like the regular Worm except when it's underground and it's X axis on the screen is equal to your opponents X axis, the worm curves straight up and nails your opponent giving you 30 points. This weapon can also be arch-shot earning 30 points at most as well. Overshooting the Homing Worm however, is a bad thing. Late Bloomer This weapon has a couple of uses. For one, if you nail your opponent dead on with this, you'll get 100 points. Secondly, Late Bloomer will dig through terrain and release multiple projectiles that explode when it comes out of the terrain. The best way to use this weapon would be to nail your opponent when they're underground and since the explosion size of Late Bloomer ain't all that big, your opponent just might stay burried. Practice makes perfect with this weapon. Laser This weapon is a basic Straight Shooter. A Straight Shooter is a weapon that is not affected by your power, it will simple shoot in a straight line at the angle you are set at. The Laser projectile cannot go through terrain, so you have to have a good clear shot of your opponent. Hitting your opponent dead on, (there is no other way :P ) will rack you up 70 points. Hot Foot This weapon can be difficult to use effectively, but it does deliver good points in doing so. For starters, Hot Foot goes straight through the ground so you can use this when your opponent is buried. Your opponent doesn't have to be deep because the explosion sizes of Hot Foot aren't that big. Another way to use this is to aim for the bottom of the playfield directly under your opponent. If your opponent is up on a mountian or something you can rack up 120+ points with Hot Foot. Bunker Buster The Bunker Buster will travel through any terrain in order to get to your opponent. Bunker Buster's explosion size is decent, but expect a maximum of only 30 points. Also, after Bunker Buster explodes under the terrain the terrain will not settle. Terrain Creators/Terrain Changers Magic Wall This will cause a nice sized green wall to grow where it impacts. A good strategy is to plant of these babies right in front of your opponent causing them to sacrafice at least one shot. Dirt Slinger This small brown shot will create a triangle of dirt. The triangle will form based upon the angle of the surface the shot hits. Hitting your opponent directly with this will bury them. Dirtball Wherever this projectile lands it will create a medium sized circle/hill. When you hit your opponent it will completely bury them. Mud Pie Mud Pie is the dirtiest of all the Terrain Makers. Wherever Mud Pie strikes, it will erupt into a fountain of seperate Big Dirtballs. Mud Pie creates the most terrain in Pocket Tanks... So far. Most of the time, it's a good idea to use this weapon a little earlier in the round, perhaps after you've used a couple of damaging weapons. If you get caught in a mud pie however, it's not always best to immediately use a Mountain/Earth Mover because you may be able to use the Mud Pie as an advantage. Your opponent can't hit you if you're too deepy buried! Glue Bomb This weapon is the most basic "glue-type" weapon. Wherever it makes contact it erupts into a fountain of glue that covers a rather small sized area. Please note that the glue doesn't stop your tank from moving, but instead, it makes bouncing weapons like the Cannon Ball explode instantly on impact. Also, Skipper, Super Skipper, Roller, ect. ect. Will explode immediately on glue impact. Use your imagination, man! Bouncy Dirt This projectile will fester a little bit of bouncyness in a small area. This weapons is best used on flat ground or perhaps waterfall-style downhill. Making terrain bouncy allows all types of weapons/projectiles to bounce when they contact. Using Bouncy Dirt wisely means being creative. Big Dirtball Say no more - you're buried chump! Wofting one of these puppies at your opponent will surely call for an immediate Terrain Mover or self inflicted, point loosing goodness. Either way, this weapon packs some serious dirt. Cruball This weapon is like a mix between Cruiser and Dirtball. Actually, the actual amount of terrain delivered with Cruball isn't all that much, but it will successfully bury your opponent if it comes into contact with them. On a paralell note, don't expect Cruball so save your ass from big explosions. XD Blackout Wherever this weapon lands it will make a decent sized black ring of terrain which is similar to Tar Ball. This weapon works great against a Shelter or other defensive weapons. Bouncy Tunnel This weapon is like Tunnel but it is a little wider and the walls inside of the tunnel are bouncy. You don't have to make a tunnel with this weapon but instead you can shave the terrain and make a big bouncy surface. Bumpers This weapon will create a big bouncy wall all the way up both sides of the screen. Bumpers work for you best when your opponent is close to the side of the screen and the same logic works in reverse - so be in check. Web Wherever this projectile lands it will spring out and then back in to trap the landing zone in webs. Be warned: Sometimes the Web will not setup all too grand if the open area around it is too small or not ideal enough. Webs can be a pain, but so can other types of terrain. Go sling a Web! Movement Generators These weapons do not affect points but move your tank accordingly. When it comes to moving, strategy play a big role, so plan ahead and realise that moving isn't entirely useless. Jump Jets This movement generator is pretty basic. You need to make sure your tank in sitting on top of all terrain. You tank will travel about half as far as any normal projectile would because the strength of Jump Jets is mediocre at best. Elevator This thing comes in handy. When you use this it will lift you up out of any terrain, rise you up into the air a little ways and then plant a small platform underneath you. This weapon is great to use when buried, but also it will keep weapons off your ass such as Cruiser, Popcorn, Hailstorm, Flea Circus, ect. Use this weapon wisely. Breakout This weapon will surely dig you out of some deep Terrain very easily. The shot, once fired, will plow a decent funnel tunnel. But, not only does it dig you out but it launches you with a balls to the wall force. The Power of this weapon cannot be changed, it is just quite strong no matter what. |
