| Monday, July 15, 2002 = We sent our complete dossier (all the paperwork collected for the adoption) to our agency today, to the Charleston, South Carolina office. Once they recieve our paperwork, they will go through and double check everything for us to make sure we all required documents included and make sure they have all been completed properly. If they don't see any problems, they will send our dossier on to China to the China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) office. That will begin our wait for a match to a child. Thursday, July 18, 2002 = WhoooHoooo!!! We received notice from Jane today, our China Program Directory at CWA and she told us that our dossier was sent to China today. And what makes it even better is that today is my birthday. What a wonderful birthday present. We are finally one step closer to our daugher. Friday, August 23, 2002 = We found out today that our dossier was logged in at China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) on July 22, 2002. That means that our thirteen (13) month countdown starts as of that date. And since I am adding this update on August 23, we are already down to a twelve (12) month wait. :-) September 2002 thru April 2003 = There really has been very little to report about our adoption process during these months. This time has just been spent waiting to here something about our little girl and getting her room ready for her. Friday, April 25, 2003 = China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) is officially closed as of today. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has become very wide spread in Beijing where CCAA's offices are located and they have decided to close the adoption program for an undisclosed period of time. Friday, May 30, 2003 = We are still waiting as CCAA is still closed at this time. Tuesday, June 24, 2003 = The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially removed China from the Travel Alert list that had been released due to SARS. We have also been told that CCAA has sent out referrals for families with a DTC date of April and May 2002. We should know more by the end of the week. Thursday, June 26, 2003 = April and May 2002 DTC families recieved their referrals today!! And their are rumors that June and July 2002 DTC families will receive referrals in the next 2 weeks. Since we have a July 22, 2002 DTC that means we should be next!! Thursday, July 3, 2003 = There are reports coming in all over the place about families who are receiving their referrals and it is both the June and July 2002 DTC families just as we had hoped. Friday, July 4, 2003 = More families are receiving referrals today. However since today is a holiday, CWA has closed their offices for the day. So if our referral is here we won't know until next week. Monday, July 7, 2003 = WE HAVE A GIRL!!! Her name is Yuan Zhan Min and she was born on June 13, 2002. So she is nearly 13 months old, and they say she is walking without assistance, toilet trained during the day, has eight teeth and weighs about 18 pounds. We are so excited and can't wait to get our travel approval so we can go to China to get her!! Even though we were very disappointed that we were unable to get this information last Friday, it is kind of cool that we got this information on Lisa's Grandma Bickels Birthday since she will not get to meet our little girl in person. End of July = We have finally received travel approval and our consulate date allowing our agency to give us exact travel dates. Since I am finishing this information up at a later date, I will go back and find our itenerary so I can post it here. But until then, you can find journal entries that we made on another site which includes our travel schedule as well as a few posts that were made while we were in China.
