| Who is POCA ? |
|
|
| POCA stands for the Pantera Owners Club of America. POCA is a non-profit international club for enthusiasts of the DeTomaso marque. The most numerous and most recognized car from this manufacturer is the Pantera. (Detomaso Factory, Detomaso Models) POCA produces both a large monthly newsletter, and a quarterly color magazine. A significant number of POCA members also have other performance or collector cars in their stable. |

| What is the DeTomaso Pantera ? |
|
|
Tom Tjaarda (the son of a U.S. car designer) designed the automobile in 1970 while working at Ghia studios of Turin, Italy. The chassis was designed by Gianpoalo Dallara of Formula One fame. Always a popular figure, Mr. Tjaarda will be attending the POCA Rally this year. His design went into production quickly by 1971, and was initially imported by Ford, and sold thru Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the United States.
The Pantera, (meaning Panther) with Italian styling mated to a Ford V8, made it to market first. It was to compete with a possible mid-engined Corvette and the mid-engined American Motors design, and intended to be the performance flagship for Ford. However, neither competitor made it past the prototype phase. The Pantera continued to be imported until 1974 when a combination of smog limitations, new laws, and the first gas crisis ended Ford�s involvement. Approximately 6,000 cars were produced during this time. DeTomaso continued to manufacture the car, with some redesigns until 1996, when production finally ceased, after 25 years. This represents the longest limited-production run of any exotic car. |

| What is the Las Vegas Fun Rally ? |
|
|
| The Fun Rally started in 1981 by a small group of club members who drove from the Los Angeles area to the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Now in it�s 22nd year, the Fun Rally has as many as 1,000 attendees, and some 200 cars from all over the world descend upon Las Vegas every April for racing events, car shows, technical discussions, meetings, movies, product reviews and demonstrations. The Fun Rally is capped by a Banquet where attendees enjoy the awards presentation while dinning surrounded by a select group of outstanding examples of DeTomaso automobiles. |

| What is the Raffle ? |
|
|
| The annual Raffle is the largest source of funds other than member dues for POCA and helps to support the year-round expenses of the club. The Raffle is the highlight of the Banquet. It is also the opportunity for a vendor or business to showcase their products or services. Prizes range from Promotional items like a donor�s company logo on shirts and hats,, to include gift certificates, up to sample products valued individually over $1,200. Usually smaller items are grouped together so each prize is valued over $100. |

| What can a Donor expect in recognition of their gift ? |
|
|
1) POCA is a non-profit organization, chartered in the state of California, and registered with the Secretary of State. Donations are therefore tax-deductible; see your tax specialist for details.
2) A personal announcement recognizing the donor as the winning ticket is called.
3) The donated items are on display throughout the event in the Hospitality suite at the raffle booth.
4) A list of donors will also appear following the event in the POCA newsletter.
5) Recognition will also be included in the packet that each Fun Rally attendee receives upon arrival.
6) Something new for this year, we are adding this web site (www.geocities.com/POCA_Raffle) to provide additional advertising. The web site will include an image of the donation items, the donors name, address, phone number, or a link to the donors web site (if one exists). This advertising will continue to be maintained until next year.
We have POCA members willing to pick up your donation and transport it to Las Vegas, or you can ship it directly to the Hotel. The address for packages is:
