Anjoli's Birth Story
They day before Anjoli's due date was the day I delivered her and here is her birth story:
At around 2:45 a.m., as I was in bed ready to go to sleep, I felt a little funny.  I got up and went to the bathroom when my water broke.  I sat for a minute but was so excited I got up and ran downstairs not even noticing that my pants were now completely soaked.  We grabbed my bag and headed for the hospital which luckily was only about 10 minutes away.  We were put in a triage room and left there for about 3 hours. We were finally led into our final room where I almost immediately got my epidural.  I was extremely terrified of this being done because I had heard how big the needle was and the thought of it going into my back made me cry.  The first time they put it in the medicine numbed my whole body to the point that I couldn't hardly breath.  They had to sit me up and wait for the medicine to wear off so they could administer another one. So again I was forced to endure another huge needle in my back which again I cried.  By twelve noon I was completely dialated and effaced and everyone started making bets on how long it would be before I had my baby.  Some said by 2 but at the latest 5.  So I called my mom and my best friend Lissette and told them to hurry and come before I had my baby.  So I started pushing around 1 and didn't stop until about 4:30.  Three and a half hours of pushing with almost absolutely no progress.  By the end I was soo exhausted and thirsty and was crying saying "never again!".  My little girl just didn't want to come down.  They said the reason could be a couple things and brought in several doctors to try and determine the reason for my baby not even dropping.  One reason was that they determined she was in a OP or sunny side up position (where she was facing up to the sky instead of down towards my spine which makes it much harder to push) and also my contractions although in a pattern, not a very good pattern for pushing.  Normal contractions last a short time then there is a short time in between to rest.  Well my contractions were very long lasting a couple of minutes and were still a couple minutes apart.  So they decided to start me on pitocin to see if they could get a better contraction pattern from me.  Well for the first time that the nurse ever saw the pitocin actually slowed down my contractions.  So they took it off and concluded I was going to have to go in for a C-Section.  To tell you the truth, I was very relieved.  Anything but having to push anymore.  Well, my mom and Lissette came in and kept me company for a while, while we waited for the OR to open up.  Well a couple hours later the doctor comes in and checks me once again, and low and behold, my baby had come down all by herself.  After all the pushing, she decides to do it by herself! Well they tell me lets go ahead and try to push because she was right there.  I started crying saying I just wanted to get her out and would they please just give me a c-section.  One of the doctors said "you better be more scared of me cutting you open then of you pushing!".  So I pushed for another hour or so all, while the whole time they tried to call a doctor in to bring a vacuum to help me out.  The doctor just kept calling back saying "just tell her to push".  They just kept yelling back "she's been pushing for 4 1/2 hours!".  Finally he arrived and used the vaccum and Anjoli Vanessa Jones was finally born at 9:49 p.m. after a whole almost exactly 19 hours of labor.  The moment she was born was the absolute highest moment of my life.  She was so beautiful.  Her daddy started calling everyone on his cell phone exitedly and all I kept yelling was "can I please have my water!" I was so thirsty but no one was paying attention to me. Finally a student doctor who had been standing in the back came up quietly and handed it to me.  The doctor kept trying to reassure me that next time it wouldn't be so ruff but I just shook my head at him.

And that is how my little girl came into the world!
