| I saw them again last Sunday sitting at the same spot. They've been coming to Mass faithfully since I started attending this church. And they have yet to miss one. This elderly couple, probably now in their late 70's or early 80's, still act as though they're newlyweds. He still holds her hand in church and still gives her a kiss when it's time to give the sign of peace. After mass, I see him help her as she tries to assemble her walker and get up on her feet. He has a cane. These instruments they use as necessities to get around. They're both weak and frail. Their bodies very much show signs of aging, but still the affection that they have for each other cannot be hidden. | ||||||||||
| As I continue to get older, I often find myself wondering if I'll have a future like that. For me, that elderly couple paints a picture of true love -- a love that withstands time. Someone once asked me to grow old with him. Was that his way of asking me to be with him forever? I don't know. Only he could answer that. By the way, my answer to his question was a "YES". I loved hearing the thought that he wanted to spend forever with me. It was nice to know that someone will be there to walk beside me forever -- through the good and bad times. It felt good to know that you I won't be alone. For me, it felt really good just to have been asked and to know that I have that much effect on that person is still beyond me. That he actually wanted to be with me and only me forever. Oh, isn't that every girl's dream? I'm sure it was for that lady who has spent the last 50 years of her life sharing it with her special someone. I wonder if my turn will be as good as hers........ | ||||||||||

| I was ready to give up on us but you never fail to amaze me. Just when I thought that there was no hope left, you proved me wrong. I'm thankful that you're back in my life once more. Do you think we can start our countdown to forever now? Maybe we can replace that elderly couple who sits on the same spot every Sunday in Mass. Maybe we could be them. Maybe....... I'm ready if you are. | ||||||||||
