"The Stormin' Mormon" Brigham Smith

Wrestlers Full Name: "The Stormin' Mormon" Brigham Smith

Wrestlers Birth Date: 10-06-83

Gender: Male

Height: 6' 0"

Weight: 220 lbs.

Hometown: Lehi, UT

Wrestlers Background: Brigham grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as his parents were members before he was born.  At the age of eight, like all members, he was baptised into the church.  He has been a faithful member all of his life, and is always looking to spread the gospel to the masses, bringing prospective elders into the fold to receive the priesthood.  Brigham, also, has always been an avid wrestling fan. Though some of the wrestlers and actions performed by them have been somewhat... unrighteous--even some of the faces in recent years--he's still always had hope for them and the well-being of their souls. Naturally, in high school, he joined the wrestling team.  Even though it
wasn't so over-the-top and there were no top rope moves, he still very much so enjoyed the experience.  It just so happened that it fueled him on to begin to dream about becoming a professional wrestler.  As he began to get better and better, easily becoming the best wrestler on his team, he began to become torn.  As he progressed, winning amateur wrestling titles, it became clear that he had a definite future in the wrestling business.  But this also meant he'd have to make a decision: to pursue his dream... or go on a Mormon mission when he turned 19.

As he graduated high school, turning down full rides to colleges for wrestling, knowing that he'd either be training for wrestling soon, or he'd be giving two years of his life to serve Him.  However, it was not long before someone contacted him, offering to make his dreams come true.  A man known as Mr. PB promised to fund his training with personal trainers who would quickly mold him into one of the best talents around.  The only catch, Mr. PB said that Brigham would be joining his organization, a soon-to-be wide-reaching group with the goal of taking the wrestling world by storm.  Brigham didn't need to weigh his options, because there wasn't much of a choice.  He went for his dream.

Wrestlers Alignment: Heel

Entrance Music: Princes Of The Universe by Queen

Gimmick: Take the general perception of a Mormon, then exaggerate and amplify it.  He feels that by being in a potentially powerful (and far-reaching) coalition such as the Syndicate, he will be able to spread the gospel to more people than he ever thought possible, even if he does get sidetracked from time to time by watching after his tag partner who's somewhat suicidal.

Appearance (In Ring And Out): Brigham is a handsome young man with hazel eyes and light brown hair, which is cut fairly short and styled with some kind of hair product.  His build--accentuated by his lightly tanned skin--is muscular, but lean, allowing him to remain as agile and quick as possible.  When not in his wrestling attire, Brigham is usually wearing a nice two- or three-piece suit--generally sticking to the darker colors (navy blue, black, dark gray).  On the suit, he usually has a Mormon missionary name tag that reads, "Elder Smith."  His ring attire consists of wrestling trunks that stop at his upper thigh.  They are blue in color, with white trim at the waist and on each leg; a white stripe also runs down each side.  In addition, he wears white wrist tape, white knee pads, and a white elbow pad on his right elbow.  His boots are white with blue shin guards.  To the ring, he wears a hooded vest that's blue on the front half and white on the back--"TSM" is printed there in blue letters.  And, of course, he almost always has a Book of Mormon in hand.

Full Ring Entrance:

[The opening vocals from Queen's "Princes of the Universe" ring throughout the arena...]

[On the jumbotron appears a vast mountainous landscape. The view sweeps at enormous speed across rocky steppes, river valleys, and sheer cliffs, approaching a flat peak. Two figures, tiny at a distance but growing larger as the shot zooms in, stand with arms folded, surveying the world around them with the imperious air of conquerors.]

[Two words strobe over this image: MANIFEST DESTINY.]

[Blue and white pyro explodes from the stage, and those same two figures stride out onto the ramp: Seth Maverick and "The Stormin' Mormon" Brigham Smith. Almost immediately, the fans are booing them relentlessly.]

[Maverick is tall and muscular, sporting a head of messy, shoulder-length black hair and an unshaven face. He wears black khaki pants with "MAVERICK" down the left leg in silver letters, black boots, and white tape on his fists. Smith -- smaller but lithe in appearance -- is clad in short blue-and-white tights, white pads and boots. He also wears a hooded vest that is blue in front, white in back with the initials "TSM" written in blue; the hood is pulled over his short unkempt brown hair. Tucked under his arm is a leather-bound edition of the Book of Mormon.]

[Behind them appears a large and stocky man dressed in a crisp white ship captain's uniform: their Syndicate colleague, The Skipper. Together, the three men stride purposefully down the ramp...]

Ring Announcer: Now coming to the ring, accompanied by The Skipper and Seth Maverick... Weighing in at 220 pounds... Representing the Syndicate of EVIL..."The Stormin' Mormon" Brigham Smith -- MANIFEST DESTINY!

[Amid loud jeering, the trio enters the ringside area. The Skipper remains on the floor while Brigham and Maverick slip into the ring. As Seth goes to his team's corner and leans listlessly against the turnbuckles, Brigham stands in the center of the ring and accepts a microphone from the ring announcer.]

Smith: Good evening, my Brothers and Sisters...

(Brigham Smith will do a short "weekly sermon" before each match. His speech will be included with the strat)

Three Strengths:

  1. Quickness - Being built smaller--rather, leaner--than a lot of other wrestlers, he has a distinct speed advantage.  He uses this to have a very fast-paced offense, while also being quick to counter many of the slow moves that power wrestlers are known for.

  2. Agility - Brigham is very gifted when it comes to things like body control.  When he is on the top rope or springboarding, he can balance for as long as he needs to, almost as if he's standing on a platform.  This also helps him by being able to flip out of moves and landing on his feet when it could otherwise be a much worse situation.

  3. Intelligence/confidence - While Brigham's not exactly an ivy league genius, he's very smart--especially about things involving wrestling.  His confidence allows him to let loose in the ring, with Brigham showing no hesitation in performing many dangerous, high-impact moves.  It also helps him stay calm and collected in heated situations, so he almost never doesn't have his wits about him.

Three Weaknesses:

  1. Height/size - Brigham's not the biggest man in the industry.  Though he's a good deal quicker than a lot of wrestlers, if a powerhouse can actually catch him and hit a big move, it's sure to take a good bit out of the smaller competitor

  2. Inexperience - Brigham will soon be turning twenty years old, which means he hasn't been pro very long at all.  While he has massive amounts of raw talent and unlimited potential, he has little to no experience whatsoever under his belt.  This could end up hurting him when facing a proven, wily veteran.

  3. Tunnel vision - Sometimes, Brigham loses sight of everything else other than one of his main goals: spreading the gospel to the masses.  In doing so, he cannot see the bigger picture, and he can become easily distracted from the goals of the Syndicate.
