Sunday Night Showdown

Steve Studd vs. Mike Smith - PNW TV title match

This match had it’s ups and downs for both men, but Studd had more of the advantage than Smith. Studd proved to be a good pick by Awesome for the TV title and showed it with his abilities in this match. Smith showed spots of brightness, but could not overcome the experience of Studd. To finish off the match, Tim Johnson’s music hit and he came down to ringside which allowed Studd to schoolboy Mike Smith and retain his PNW TV title.

Tim Johnson vs. Tony Floyd - PNW Hardcore title match

This match started off early with the former Spawn taking advantage of Tim Johnson, pummeling him with a steel chair he brought into the ring before the match and with his taped fists. Tim Johnson fought back, but only to mild results against the behemoth known as Tony Floyd. Johnson was out of it, with Floyd ready to pin Johnson for the title, when Smith ran out from the back. The referee kept Smith from getting in the ring, but was missing Floyd’s cover of Johnson! Floyd got up and chased Smith around the ring, with the ref attending to Johnson the whole time. Johnson laid there as Floyd then put Smith out with a chair for his interference in the match on the outside. He then slides back into the ring, on a now possum-playing Johnson and goes for the pin, but Johnson switches it up and rolls up Floyd for the quick count. There fore Johnson retained the PNW Hardcore championship. Johnson quickly grabs his title and runs away before further damage to himself. He holds his head as he takes off up the ramp and through the curtain.

Post match, Floyd goes back to the outside and drags Smith back into the ring. He brings him in and hit the Bomb from Hell on Smith before leaving himself. Smith lays there as medics attend to him and eventually help him to the back.

Awesome/Mr. PB & Misty Xiao Segment

[The door to Sean Awesome's office bursts open, making said PNW co-owner look up from his desk in startlement. Marching in like he owns the room, the building, and some large chunk of surrounding real estate, is the Syndicate of EVIL leader, Mr. PB. "The Red Angel" Misty Xiao is right at his side, and judging by the look on her face -- and the stiffness of PB's posture -- neither of them is in a particularly goood mood.]

[Before Awesome can even open his mouth, PB slams his hands on the desk surface, carelessly scattering important-looking files.]

PB: Mr. Awesome, I am *very* dissatisfied with you! Why is Misty Xiao not a wrestling superstar yet?

[Misty puts her hands on her hips and frowns.]

Misty: Yeah! Why am I not a wrestling superstar yet?

PB: Well? I demand an answer!

Awesome: [Looks over from his desk] Look, I'm working on it, PB. I am going over a lot of paper work right now. I do have to say though, your boys in Manifest Destiny have impressed me, but I don't know where to stick Misty yet, OK?

PB: [Snorts] Oh, indeed. Seems to me you haven't done much of *anything* for her lately -- except letting your misogynistic crew foul up her World Title match!

Misty: [Sticking her chin out] Yeah, what he said!

Awesome: I am handling it, but I'm a bit busy with that @$$hole Fox, you know. If it wasn't for him, Misty would BE World Champion right now! *He* is the one who hates her. I can't do anything this week, Fox booked the whole thing solid and even went so far as to bar me from the building because of the Manifest Destiny/So-Cal Sinners match that I gave to MD a few weeks back. But I am gonna book her for next week though, I can assure you of that!

[Instantly mollified, Misty claps her hands gleefully.]

Misty: Whee! Do I get another shot at the World Title?

Awesome: Unfortunately, not soon enough I am afraid. Fox, the damn American, says we don't get another one for a while.

Misty: [Pouts] Awww...

Awesome: However, I do think I can see about giving you a good match next week. Tell me, have you ever entertained thoughts of the new divisions we have opened up?

[The young Chinese athlete opens her mouth to chime in, but PB cuts her off with a wave.]

PB: No, no, no! Only the top is good enough for me! ...Er, for my "Red Angel"! So you'd best find a way to put her there, and put her there *soon*, or so help me I'll--

[Seeing her evil leader becoming overly agitated, Misty grabs PB's arms and holds them down, flashing an apologetic smile at Awesome.]

Misty: Sorry, he gets like this sometimes.

Awesome: Look, I appreciate your concern here, but let me do my job and you do yours. Mine is lining them up and yours is knocking them down. Misty will have plenty of time to be the last WWA World champion once we run this company and the WWA out of business. Trust me...

Misty: [Grins happily] Gee, thanks a lot, Mr. Awesome! You're... uh... well, awesome!

PB: [Dryly] Oh, I'll trust you -- against my better judgment -- but you'd better start delivering results. I'm beginning to think you're not quite as "awesome" as your name would have me believe.

[He turns to Misty and jerks his (paper-bagged) head toward the door.]

PB: Come along now, Misty. Let's go watch your teammates demolish some *gutter* trash.

Misty: That sounds like fun! [Waves at Awesome] Bye-ee!

Awesome: Bye and don't worry, I will deliver. I will deliver you to the promised land or I will give up the company!

[Awesome flashes a smile as they turn to leave the office. Passing through the door, PB mutters something snide under his breath; Misty gasps, retorts harshly and elbows him sharply in the side. Then the Syndicate duo are out of sight, though their arguing voices are still faintly audible from the hall.]

Awesome: [Under his breath] Don't worry, PB... I have something in the works that will make the SoE the talk of the Alliance. They *will* be the Alliance when I get through...

Tag Turmoil for the #1 Contendership to the PNW Tag Team titles - Final Judgment vs. Manifest Destiny vs. Mass Destruction vs. Christian Light and Chris Saint

The first two teams are called out to make their entrances for the match as the rules of the turmoil match are announced, they are that the match is elimination-style and the first two teams come out, after one team is eliminated them the next team comes out and the match continues until only one team is surviving. The first team to make their entrance is Manifest Destiny and the second team is Mass Destruction, both teams set up in their respective corners. They come out hard and Manifest Destiny takes the advantage immediately with Seth Maverick using power moves on Mass Destruction’s Wolf. Wolf is no match for Maverick’s power and beaten helplessly in the ring. Maverick tags in Brigham Smith who works over Wolf as well, smart teamwork throughout the match keeps Wolf in the ring battling Manifest Destiny. With constant interference from Ash and The Skipper, Valley never seems in the right place at the right time and when he is Wolf can’t get a tag because one or the other members of Manifest Destiny are pounding on him. For the finish of this match, Ash and Skipper pull Valley off the apron and keep him busy on the outside. Meanwhile Maverick executes a tombstone piledriver, his “Homicidal One” on Wolf and then tags out to Brigham Smith, who hits a picture-perfect stardust press or his “Exaltation”, for the pin and the win.

The referee, seeing some of what happened in the last match, orders Ash and The Skipper to the back and they go, though resisting the whole way, as Christian Light and Christ Saint both make their ways to the ring. Smith starts this one out first with Chris Saint, they both exchange holds and go back and forth for a few moment before Saint tags in Light. Saint obviously was watching the last match and didn’t want to be trapped in the ring with Maverick. Light and Smith start the exchange with Light actually getting the better of Smith, his freshness in the ring being his prime advantage and he uses it to the full extent. They starts getting an advantage, when Maverick enters the ring and hits a spear on a running Light, as well as a spinebuster on Saint, who tries to save his partner. As the ref forces Maverick out of the ring, Smith crawls over to his corner and makes the official tag. Maverick comes in and DESTROYS the team of Light and Saint, until Saint hits a HUGE hurricanarana on Maverick. He and Light whip him into the turnbuckle and set him up for a superplex by Light, the legal man, but before the move can be executed, Brigham charges in and dropkicks the opponent in the legs, knocking him off-balance. The opponent falls on his back with Seth riding him all the way down. He then gets up and picks up Light, whipping him across the ring to his partner who hits a big Yakuza kick, behind the refs back, and then Maverick makes the cover for the win. They look exhausted but prepare for the last group, Final Judgment.

Final Judgment comes out from behind the curtain and has what can only be described as an incredible match with Manifest Destiny, despite the weariness of Manifest Destiny. Way too much back and forth action to completely call here, everything was thrown in this match from clotheslines to hurricanaranas to submission holds. In the final minutes of this very long contest, FJ looked to have the way and attempted to pull it out by locking on “The Execution” on Brigham Smith. Smith was tapping out, but the submission was missed because just before it, Ash ran out from the curtain and the ref, seeing Ash, jumped from the ring and ran into the aisle way to stop him from interfering and to throw him back out from the ringside area. Security was brought out, but in the meantime Maverick had dropkicked Wrec Hannibal and hit a tombstone piledriver on DragonWulf. He rolled out of the ring just as the ref was coming back in and grabbed a bottle of water, dumping it on his nearly unconscious partner and signaled for the end of the match to the crowd. Smith ran immediately to the turnbuckle and perched himself up there, Maverick then picked up Wrec and hoisted him on his shoulders. Smith jumped off and hit a breath-taking tornado DDT off of Maverick’s shoulders, in a move they call the “Damnation”, crushing Wrec’s head into the mat. He rolled him over for the pin and the win in the PNW Tag Turmoil match.

Post match, the Syndicate of Evil all come to the ring and celebrate with Manifest Destiny. They put both Wrec and DW in the ropes and smash both of them in the head with a steel chair. PB seems happy with everything that has happened and then “Bombs Away” by ThreeFoot hits and the So-Cal Sinners come out from behind the curtain. They congratulate MD on their win and say that they will see them come November in a match for the PNW Tag Team titles, THEIR titles! They walk back behind the curtains and the SoE looks at the curtain, less than pleased at the interruption, before they exit the ring themselves.

Eric Dane versus Wrec Hannibal - PNW Oregon State title match

Wrec Hannibal was obviously tired from the match previous and looked worn out in this match. Dane took him to school with experience and freshness in this contest, battering him with all sorts of moves and Wrec didn’t know what to do next. He fought back the only way he knew how though, with brawling and gritty toughness. He managed to get himself on the offensive for a few moments, but Dane would take every one of those offensive surges and destroy them with cheap shot and technical counters. In the end though, Dane climbs to the top rope on a downed Wrec Hannibal and hit’s a beautiful Shooting Star Press to win the PNW Oregon State title and end the evening. He celebrates in the ring as the cameras fade to the PNW logo before fading to black.
