The Blowgun... (As I see it.)
My current setup includes two .50 caliber blowguns.  One is a storebought gun made of Aluminum, purchased from Wholesale Goods/Blowguns Northwest.  It is 48", and I use the standard mouthpiece and muzzle guard on it.  My second gun is 60", and it is made of wrapped carbon fiber.  I purchased it off of the internet directly from a supplier named Composite Resources.  On this gun I secure the standard mouthpiece and muzzle guard from WG/BGNW with a few wraps of plumber's teflon tape.

They are both great guns, and I honestly have no preference.  I figure I just wanted to get a carbon fiber gun to try it out.  It's better for long range shots because of the added length and less weight to support during tough shots.  The carbon fiber gun is probably used more often for hunting, whereas the aluminum gun is better suited for fishing and target shooting.

I have a handful of different darts in my quiver.  For all darts I use a 1/8th inch poplar dowel for the arrow shaft.  Breakaway blades are the utility knives that when the tip or blade is dull you can snap off that section and you have a perfectly new tip in hand.  When referring to fletchings, I use the little pieces on power nailers as fins.  All darts are equipped with the storebought cones used for super spike darts.

-For small land critters, and for my standard broadhead, I prefer to use an 8 inch length with a snapped #11 Xacto tip.  I place the fletchings about halfway back on this dart.

-For birds I use one of three darts.  Either I use a 12 inch shaft sharpened to a point, and left as is, or a 10 inch shaft with a small tip made from a snapped piece of a medium breakaway utility blade with the fletchings at about 3 inches back from the tip.  Or I use a small 4 inch piece with the fletchings full to the rear against the cone, and a special tip that I make with a 1"x3/16" nylon spacer boiled in water to soften it sligthly, and a storebought spike dart tip pressed partially into it.  then i sand the dart shaft, and glue it into the nylon piece.

-Lastly is my target dart/field point dart made from a 10 inch dowel with an aluminum tip made from a 1/2" threaded extension post- get it at Lowes.  No fletchings on this bad boy, either.
