hide's death haunted many, not least of which his fans. Many were hospitalized for fainting and attempted suicide and, sadly, three did more than attempt suicide, leaving their friends and families the same way hide left them.
Tens of thousands crowded the streets to leave flowers during his public funerals as they said good-bye. When his casket was brought through out to be buried police had to barracade the streets to keep young fans away from it.
His friends and family were hurt far more than his fans, though. Hiroshi, the brother hide had been living with produced a last album to his glory--Ja, Zoo. On this last album were his last two singles, "ever free" and "Pink Spider."
At hide's funeral X Japan reunited to see him off with one of their songs, appropriately enough titled "Forever Love." Yoshiki gave a speech through his sobs. The band dedicated one of their songs, "Tears" to him as well.
hide's passing even crossed the ocean to America. It was reported in the New York Times as well as mentioned on CNN. His fans over here, for he had many, mourned his passing. American rockstar friend of hide's, Marilyn Manson even paid his respects by wearing his hair pink for a time.
Even now, years after his passing, hide is still sorely missed. Every May 2nd a new compilation cd is released to his honor. He is dead physically, but alive in memory.
