Environmentally-friendly ways, of course!! Currently, we are collecting both pop cans and used printer cartridges, and giving them to facilities that turn them into money! And what does the money go to?
Supplies! Latex gloves and trash bags add up after a while you know! We try our best to be economically conscious with our money, dont worry. Hopefully, eventually, we will also be able to do some large scale projects - so we'll keep collecting those cans from the bins in the hallways, and let us know if you have a used printer cartridge!
Why would you want to do that?
Look at what a small group of students have already done this year (with help, of course!):
-Transplanted rare prarie plants onto walking areas at land preserves
-Recycled 16,800 bottles and cans (as of February 16th, 2004 - we haven't stopped, but we haven't
counted them in a while :)
-Picked up 62 pounds of trash from Van Buren State Park Beach on one occasion, and 107.5 on a later
date. Do you like the beach? Imagine it with another 169.5 lbs on trash on it the next time you go!
-Recycled 129 printer cartridges
-Picked up 412 lbs of trash for Spring Clean Up - ick, imagine your school grounds with that lying
around!
