If
Where I'm From
I am from a heavily congested neighborhood with
amber glistening leaves.
I'm from an endless field of illumination
that twinkle from dust to dawn.
I'm from a fantasy world with
fairies that prance around,
with clouds that float like feathers,
and with memories that suspend in the breeze.

I am from the diamond-speckled lights
where swinging on a star is simple.
I'm from busy bodies,
and coach potatoes.
From hunger pangs to ooh-so-stuffed!
I'm from the cold sprinkle of
stardust every winter in Wonderland.

I am from bright oranges
and soft mauves.
I'm from a sleeping bag roller coaster ride
down the Milky Way to infinity.
From the slide made of mats
coming down Santa Claus's chimney.

I am from these memories
of laughter and fun
and fantasies beyond compare.
I am from a world of sparkling wonders
and memories trapped in a jar.
So when I feel lost and lonely,
I sneak a peek in my golden treasure chest
and reopen Memory's lid -
And reminisce eager for just another day.
