| La Omerta. |
| Never side with anyone outside of the family, Ever. Loyalty rates high on the list of importance to the family. When they would risk their life to aid you, then you do not do them the dishonour of siding with anyone of the family. Me against my brother, my brother and I against our father, my father and I against our uncle, my uncle and I against the stranger. Never tell those outside the family what you are thinking. Giving away your feelings to those outside the family is a risk to yourself, and to the family. Giving them information, can be used against the family. Never betray wrong doings to law or government. Anyone who needs the police to intervene for them is showing themselves up to be weak. It is cowardly to not deal with the offender yourself. A wounded man would say " If I live I will kill you, if I die, you are forgiven. " Never forget a slight, nor a debt. Remember those who do you favours, you may be called to return it. If someone slights you, remember and wait. If you slight someone, remember it, you must remember your enemies. Don Fredrico Marcelli's words on La Omerta: The other tribes believe us to be a "modern" tribe, with little custom, or tradition. We change and adapt to the times, in a similar way to the cockroach. Like the cockroach we will emerge even if the cities and wilderness go up in flames. We are a tribe that has had to adapt to survive in the cities amongst men. In doing so, we have adopted a different sense of honour and justice to other tribes. Honour and loyalty rate highly amongst the mortal mafia, as they do amongst the Glass Walkers. La Omerta is as sacred to us, as it ever was to the Mafia. While it has been adapted somewhat to fit in with the Garou side of our nature, little has changed from the ideal. Treat others with the loyalty you would expect from another of the family. Any who would abandon a member of the family in their time of need, expect to be abandoned by your tribe mates in return. Any who would go against the family, expect to be hunted down like a dog and killed. Treat the kin as you would treat another member of the tribe, for keep in mind who their family are, and who you would disrespect in disrespecting their mate, or sister or mother. In a similar way, it has always been tradition amongst the mafia, if you would marry within the family then you should ask the father of the one you would marry respectfully for blessing to marry them. Within the Glass Walkers if you would court a mate you should ask the eldest amongst you for their blessing and expect to have to prove your worth. Any who would not do so and take a mate without seeking the elders blessing would dishonour the elder as much as it would if they were to mate with his daughter without his consent. In that instance, if you promise my children the world, and make them believe you can be with them, or sleep with them, and then come to me demanding to be considered their mate, or asking to, you will know that you have done me a great wrong and will be punished appropriately. If I see another young male or female kin try to kill themselves because they have been romantically entangled with a Garou or another kin without prior permission and are told they cannot be together... I will kill the offending person who would dishonour myself and that child. I do not take it lightly when one of ours is harmed due to the thoughtless lust or ignorance of others. In the same instance as that... I do not expect to see any of the Walkers or kin seeking out legal justice against another of the family. It is not our way, it should be settled between the two people and not a court. It is not only cowardly and dishonourable, it is a risk to the veil. To have a Garou in prison for even a night is risking a frenzy...So think before you ring the police on anyone, Could they be family? Never forget a debt or a slight... well, as Garou we punish slights against ourselves, or the family, be that by honourable challenge... if that is so, a challenge circle must be sought, and a challenge master or philidox must oversee. ....or making others aware of the slight. Aside from that, remember, we are all family, whatever we do as ourselves, reflects on our brothers and sisters as a tribe. Act in a way that you would want the tribe to be seen by others. If you would give the tribe a bad name amongst others by acting cowardly, dishonourably or unwisely, you dishonour your tribemates aswell in the other Garou's eyes. So think before you act, and listen before you think. Part of the creed of wisdom, and one too many forget. |
