Toy Library for Children with Special Needs

Introduction

Toys are very important to all children. Providing the right playthings at the right age stimulates their imagination. Toys have therapeutic effect. They help the growth of the children's creativity, skills and the understanding of the environment. They learn about the world they live in.

Realising this need, the YMCA Toy Library for Children with Special Needs was officially launched in 1997 and officiated by Social Leader Yg. Bhg. Dato' Lee Lam Thye. The Toy Library is an extension of our programme with the Deaf Community, to promote the development and well being of children with Special Needs through Toys and Play. Gathering at this Library and playing helps draw these children out of their shell and develop self-confidence, discipline and helps them develop independence to cope with real life.

To achieve our goals, the Toy Library offers the following:
