PISTOL COMMITTEE

Well it's 2002 and we hope everybody had a great holiday season. There is not too much to report so far this year. The Pistol Committee meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm in the combo building. We ask all those interested to attend. The pistol range is open Monday and Tuesday, 5:00pm-9:00pm and Thursday from 5:00pm to 6:30pm for regular shooting & 7:00pm-9:00 pm for I.P.S.C. practice and Sunday from 9:00am-5:00pm. The I.P.S.C. shooting is going quite well, so come out and have some fun.

Look forward to some work parties this spring. We have to clean up the pin shoot area to try some different types of shooting, and we also have to fix up the pistol range from last year's use. Just a reminder that shooting hours on all ranges are from 9:00am to 9:00pm.

Indoor pin shoots are on the 4th Sunday of the month from 12 Noon - 5:00 pm. The cost is $5.00/ set or $15.00/4 sets. 22 cal rim fire only!

As always be safe and have fun.

JUST THE FACTS.....

At the December Club meeting, I volunteered to collect and organize a list of "necessary knowables" from all Committee Chairpersons. This will be a list of five to ten items that everyone should know about each committee. Times for shooting, safety rules, requirements, fees, etc. If you are a Committee Chairperson, or just have a major concern, please make sure to send me your list before January 30 to:

Jim Haines
730 Pettigrew Road
North Huntingdon, PA 15642

Hopefully, I will be able to organize and compile these for distribution by the March or April meeting.

CARETAKER'S CORNER

Here we are, another year gone by. I want to thank everyone for all the help that was given to me and I would like to remind everyone that this is a member club and for us to make this club work, we have to do a lot of things our self.

When opening the gate, remember to chain it back, unless you would like it to hit your car or truck. New members, please do not park on the roadway by the outdoor archery range.

Just a reminder, when there is a work party going on, no other activity will take place in that area. When the Club Meeting in being held, no other meetings or activities shall be held.

Events coming up include the Sport Show, February 13-17. Kid's Show is February 14th from 8:00am-Noon. On February 21, the Allegheny County Sportsmen League Banquet will be held at the Fox Chapel Yacht Club. See me for tickets. Also, see Whitey about beef jerky sales at the Sport Show.

Thanks again, everyone.

Archery Committee

In my last article in the newsletter, hunting season just started and now it's time for another article and hunting season is over. Our 3-D season will start in March and our complete 2002 scheduled is listed in this newsletter. We have some improvements to get done before we start up, so I will be calling on all of my people and, of course, a lot of our new members. The archery people still shoot on Wednesday nights and everyone is invited to join us, even if you do not shoot, you are welcome to come in to meet and talk to a lot of nice people. Thank you.

CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM (CMP) REPORT

by Chris Roper, [email protected]

The CMP high power service rifle matches are still going strong. The match results will be posted on the rifle range bulletin board. There has been a request by the Board of Directors to move the match starting time from 9:00 am to 10:00 am to avoid disturbing our neighbors. Please call the CMP Director, Dave Blinky for details.

**Reminder: CMP Match is the first Sunday of the month at 10am**

(Our crew may try to shoot all through the winter. If we want to play with these military arms, we may as well go through the conditions our fathers used them in. Brrrrrrrr! - Bill Chessman)

22 Rifle Fun Shoot "The Best Way to Break Clay"
Rumor has it that Joe D'Antonio is planning another 22 rifle fun shoot. This match is perfect practice for the upcoming squirrel season. Flyers will be posted around the Club with the details.
**Reminder: 22 Rifle Fun Shoot - Details to be announced**

200 yd Tactical Rifle Match
So far, so good! We have had two tactical rifle matches, one in August and one in September. For the August match, Ron B. was first, Ed S. was second and Randy R. was third. In the September match, your humble chairman redeemed himself with a first place finish, Ed S. was second (again!) and Joe D. took third with a 22lr. Folks, this match is FUN! All you need is 20 rounds and a scoped rifle. All shooting is done from a bench or from the prone position, it's your choice. This is a great way to check your rifle zero for the upcoming deer season.
**Reminder: 200 yd Tactical Rifle Match, 4th Sunday, October 28th at 12 Noon**

Rifle and Pistol Ranges
NO SHOTGUN SHELLS! The target stands on the rifle and pistol range are designed for single projectile rifle and pistol ammo only. These stands will not hold up to pelletized shotgun ammo. Do not shoot the black rubber/plywood stands with shotgun shells! If you want to shoot pelletized shotgun ammo on the rifle range, mount cardboard on the rolling metal stand or the portable 2 x 4 stands with firing strips. Cardboard is cheap, our rifle and pistol stands are not!

GET INVOLVED! I could use some help maintaining the target stands on the rifle and pistol ranges. If you would like to be a good PMSC member, please contact myself or one of the other Committee Chairmen about work parties. Remember, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

THE CLASSIFIEDS

For any items you wish to sell - please put them on a 3" x 5" index card and date it. There are two bulletin boards at the combination building where they can be posted. Ads will stay up for 30 days. Note: The Classified Ads are a service of PMSC. The club offers no warranty as to the accuracy of the ads or the condition of the items bought, sold or traded through them.
