| Snowman Door Greeter A cheerful little fellow to hang from a doorknob. Materials: Worsted weight yarn - White (2 oz), green (1 oz), brown (1 oz) Size H hook 5 jingle bells 6-mm shank-style eyes or 5 mm black pompoms Primo Sculpey clay for nose or orange pompom 3 5mm black pompoms for belly 1� white pompom Fiberfill Hot glue or craft glue Blush Note: Do not join rounds throughout unless indicated, instead mark 1st st of each round. Directions: Body Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc) Rnd 3: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around (18 sc) Rnd 4: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) around (24 sc) Rnd 5: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc) around (30 sc) Rnd 6: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc) around (36 sc) Rnds 7 - 11: Sc in each sc around. Stuff body firmly. Thread tapestry needle with long end and weave through stitches on Rnd 16, gather tightly to close. Head Rnd 1-4: Follow rnds 1-4 of body. At end of rnd 4 you will have 24 sc. Rnd 5-8: Sc in each sc around. Rnd 9: (Dec sc over next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc) around (18 sc) Rnd 10: (Dec sc over next 2 sc, sc in next sc) around (12 sc) Join with a sl st to next sc and finish off leaving a 6� tail for sewing. If using shank-style eyes, insert them now, centering evenly on face. Stuff head firmly. Thread tapestry needle with long end and weave through stitches on Rnd 10, gather tightly to close. Scarf Row 1: With green ch 41, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1 and working along opposite side of chain sc in each ch across, ch 1 and join with a sl st in 1st sc. Finish off and weave in ends. (80 sc) Fringe Cut 6 3� pieces of contrasting yarn. Join 3 pieces evenly spaced to each short end of scarf using a larkshead knot. Trim evenly. Using the tip of your tapestry needle separate the plies of each yarn end. Hat Row 1: With green ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1; turn. (12 sc) Row 2-20: Working in BLO, sc in each sc across. At end of row 20 do not fasten off. Fold hat in half and matching stitches, sl st rows 1 and 20 together forming a tube. Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. With tapestry needle, weave long end of yarn through edge and gather to close. This forms the top of the hat. Glue white pompom over gather. For trim attach contrasting yarn in any space on open end of hat, ch 1 and sc evenly around. Using matching yarn, sew 2 jingle bells to hat as shown in photo. Bell Hanger Thread 3 bells onto white yarn. Ch 13, slide up one bell, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, join to bottom center of body with a sl st, *ch 13, slide up bell, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, join in same space as before*. Repeat from * once more, fasten off and weave in ends. Assembly If using Sculpey clay for nose, form �carrot� nose and bake according to package directions. Glue head to body. Glue nose (or orange pompom) centered below eyes. Roll up a small brim on hat, place a small amount of fiberfill inside hat, and then glue to top of head. Wrap scarf around neck, securing with a small amount of glue. Glue 3 pompoms evenly spaced down center of body. Put a small amount of blush on each of the snowman�s cheeks. Arms Do not join rnds, arms are worked in a continuous spiral. Rnd 1: With brown, leaving a long end for sewing, ch 2. Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Repeat rnd 1 until piece measures 16�.
