STONEHENGE and SALISBURY

Stonehenge is around 80 miles to the SW of London. It is amazing collection of stones - initially thought to be the work of druids, it is now known to pre-date them quite significantly. The consensus is that these stones were a combination of religious site and astronomical observatory/timepiece.

Salisbury is a beautiful town around 15 miles to the south of Stonehenge. Salisbury Cathedral is one of the oldest and the tallest cathedrals in England. It dates from the 12th century. One of the original Magna Cartas is housed inside Salisbury Cathedral.
