2005 Modano Mi Hermano Draft Recap

Round 1
1. Julius Jones, Dal RB Weaselicious Cookies
2. Kevin Jones, Det RB Syracuse 44's
3. LaMont Jordan, Oak RB The Ballbusters
4. DeShaun Foster, Car RB Peaks Island Wookies
5. Michael Vick, Atl QB Einar's Lovable Losers
6. Tiki Barber, NYG RB County Coroners
7. Michael Clayton, TB WR P-Miss Envy
8. Joe Horn, NO WR Brentless Brents
9. Hines Ward, Pit WR Bull City Bares
10. Reggie Wayne, Ind WR San Francisco Cubists

Speculation had run rampant all summer long about what Owner Dan Weitz would do with the well deserved first pick of the draft. The Cookie family had sent all sorts of smoke screens that included grabbing a kicker in the first round, but anyone with their feet both set on the ground could tell what the former borderline psychotic would do. Weitz confidently strode to the podium and selected the Cowboys RB Julius Jones, the brother of Bears RB Thomas Jones, but unrelated to pop singer Howard Jones. Jones was drafted by the Envy in the 6th round last year but cut when he broke his shoulder. He was later picked up by the Cubists who used him to bludgeon their way to a championship. Weitz then leapt off the podium and did a double fist pump, showing off his excitement. In a post-selection interview with Craig Sager, Weitz said, Jones reminds me of my favorite drink from Park Plaza Mall: Orange Julius. I look forward to a long happy keeper status for Mr. Orange Julius. Jones and Cookie TE Jason Witten form the most potent pair of Cowboys since the Michael Irvin days days which Irvin still never shuts up about. Still, Weitz had double reasons to be confident because not only did he nab his favorite Jones, but soon after the pick, he finalized a major trade in which he sent RB Corey Dillon back home to Peaks Island along with a 14th round draft choice for RB Deuce McAllister and a 4th round pick. Quite a coup! The trade surprised Owner John Stoer, Steve Johnson as well as Weitz, who commented, Hopefully the trade doesnt bite me in the ass like when I dumped Priest after he pissed me off and Perry [ahem, the media!] has never let me forget it. Stoer made quick work of the second pick by picking the also unrelated-to-Howard, Kevin Jones, a third round pick of the Wookies last year. Because of this pick, Owner Steve Johnson sighed and lamented that he had hoped one of the Jones would fall to his pick at 8. Huh? Another owner was disappointed as Owner Rich Joseph started his return to the top by selecting RB LaMont Jordan. Owner Chad Nuss proceeded to swear vigorously, but it seems like an astute pick by Joseph. As if preparing for his role with the Coroners, Jordan spent some time on the Countys roster as a handcuff (the fantasy now used term for a backup RB) for Curtis Martin. As if their somewhat uneven trade wasnt surprise enough, Wookies Owner Will Mitchell selected Panther RB DeShaun Foster. Foster was an 11th round selection of the Busters last year, but has been unable to stay injury free in his NFL career. Owner Perry Missner commented, DeShaun Foster went a lot higher than I expected. His health is a big factor as well as the numerous other Panther backs. Big risk-reward type pick. More positively, Stoer said, A swing for the fences pick. Ballsy and I like it. Owner Steve the Einar Olson was the only owner not to show up for the draft, so his picks had to be selected by a committee who were using notes the Einar had made on some bar napkins and the draft proceedings of previous years. Yet, the Einar was specific in his desire for the first round: QB Michael Vick, who was twice a keeper (by the Wookies and Envy). Weeks later, the Einar seemed pleased with this pick. With Jordan not on the board, the Coroners went back to their New York connection and selected former Bier Tiki Barber, who had a career season last year. Barber was a second round selection by the Biers last year and is a former Cubist keeper. Another 2004 Bier was selected by the Envy in WR Michael Clayton, who actually went undrafted last year. Clayton was not plan A for the Missner, but he figured that fellow would last a while longer. Many speculated that Johnson would take this time to go from Brentless to Brentful, but he surprised some by taking excitable WR Joe Horn, who was once a Brent keeper four years ago. Last year, Horn toiled away with the Losers for whom he was a second round pick. As each pick was made, Owner Randy Chambers became increasingly excited because his #1 player was still on the board. Unable to contain himself any longer, after Horn was selected, Chambers blurted out, Heiny Wartz! Of course, he meant Heinz Ward, who had spent the last two years with the Brents. Chambers was so excited to get Wartz because he was part of his 2002 championship squad. The first round finished up just as Owner Jason Moore logged in. After getting up to speed, Moore selected the leagues best #2 WR Reggie Wayne, who was with the Losers last year, but was a Cubist 12th round draft pick in 2003.

Round 2
11. Andre Johnson, Hou WR Weaselicious Cookies
12. Brian Westbrook, Phi RB Syracuse 44's
13. Nate Burleson, Min WR The Ballbusters
14. Michael Bennett, Min RB Peaks Island Wookies
15. Tatum Bell, Den RB Einar's Lovable Losers
16. Carnell Williams, TB RB County Coroners
17. Tom Brady, NE QB P-Miss Envy
18. Anquan Boldin, Ari WR Brentless Brents
19. Warrick Dunn, Atl RB Bull City Bares
20. Ronnie Brown, Mia RB San Francisco Cubists

Owner Dan Weitz continued to fill the cupboard with another nice player WR Andre Johnson, who was considered as a keeper by both the Wookies and 44s last year. Johnson has, according to Joe Buck, bigplayability, which was translated by Tim McCarver to mean the ability to make big plays. Always insightful, Tim McCarver. The 44s finished off what could be a sweet trio of RBs with the choice of Brian Westbrook, who spent last year with the Coroners. Westbrook, Jones, and Steven Johnson could form a 44 backbone for years to come. Owner Rich Joseph selected his teams first WR in Randy Moss replacement Nate Burleson, who had some fine games for both the Envy and Busters last year. A second consecutive Viking was nabbed as the Wookies selected Michael Bennett another big risk-reward pick in that he has a history of injuries and the Vikings have a lot of runners they can use. At this point, Bennett, like the Einars pick following him of Tatum Bell, is a backup. Yet, these were the Einars expressly written instructions. The first rookie came off the board as Owner Chad Nuss selected Carnell Cadillac Williams from the Buccaneers. Williams has been oohed and aahed over during the preseason, but his nickname most recently given to Greg Cadillac Anderson, a substandard center for a number of NBA teams who had an extraordinarily small forehead, gives a reason for pause. Nevertheless, Curtis Martin, Barber, and Williams could vie for three-headed monster status, and Nuss was very happy with the pick. The Envy selected the ultimate leader of men in QB Tom Brady, who was involved in an early season deal that sent him from the Cookies to the Brents last year. This pick shocked Pat fan Will Mitchell, who expected the consistent yet not overpowering Brady to last a bit longer. Owner Steve Johnson continued to defy his few fans by selecting another non-moronic QB, WR Anquan Boldin, who spent the last two years as a Coroner first as a flash in the pan rookie, then as a bust keeper. Owner Randy Chambers filled his requirement for a third down back with Warrick Dunn, who was involved in the Brady deal between the Cookies and Brents. The second rookie runner came off the board as Owner Jason Moore selected Miami RB Ronnie Brown. Other jealous owners immediately claimed that Ronnie would soon be compared to another famous RB Brown, Jim. That remains to be seen.

Round 3
21. J.J. Arrington, Ari RB Weaselicious Cookies
22. Kerry Collins, Oak QB Syracuse 44's
23. Ashley Lelie, Den WR The Ballbusters
24. Darrell Jackson, Sea WR Peaks Island Wookies
25. Chris Chambers, Mia WR Einar's Lovable Losers
26. Julius Peppers, Car DL County Coroners
27. Brian Urlacher, Chi LB P-Miss Envy
28. Brent Farf, GB QB Brentful Brents
29. Donnie Edwards, SD LB Bull City Bares
30. Marc Bulger, StL QB San Francisco Cubists

The second straight rookie RB was selected as Owner Dan Weitz chose J.J. Arrington of the Cardinals. Coach Dennis Green is certainly optimistic about Arrington, calling him the most explosive back that he has coached since Robert Smith. Of course, Smith exploded out of football. Hoist your Budweisers because QB Kerry Collins is coming back to Syracuse. Owner John Stoer hooted, He'll throw some picks of course, but I see a 30+ TD season headed my way. Plus, once the season begins, I can turn the media relations duties over to him. No one provides good press like a tipsy QB, although were not sure wed want the keys to such a potent office in Collins hands he may get a DUI. Owner Rich Joseph plans to complement Nate Burleson with Ashley Lelie, who was a 12th round pick of the Cubists last year and also played for the Brents. Hes got a lot of potential The Wookies took another 2004 Cubist draft pick, Darrell Jackson, but Owner Jason Moore selected Jackson in the second round. While its true that Jackson can get open, his hands are made of a harder material than flesh. Stone, perhaps? The Einar selected WR Chris Chambers, who had been chosen by the Cookies the past three years. Was this a coincidence? Yes, it was. Sadly, Chambers can no longer grab the beautiful spirals tossed by Jay Fiedler, but has to get on the same page as Gus Ferrotte. The Coroners went back to their early history adage of defense and kicking by selecting the first defensive player, DL Julius Peppers. Peppers started 2004 as a 14th round choice of the Envy, but was later traded to the Losers for Steve McNair. Sensing a defensive run, Owner Perry Missner gave his team its heart back by naming LB Brian Urlacher as the once again anchor to the leagues proudest defense. Urlacher has either been kept or selected by the Envy in all 6 of his NFL seasons, and was once the Don Sweeney Award Winner for Most Outstanding Defensive Player. And now we come to the inevitable downturn in the draft proceedings the selection of inbred, hillbilly moron QB Brent Farf by the now Brentful Brents. Its been a tough year for the rapidly aging Farf, and media attention on his trials has not helped. Nevertheless, he doesnt need to call press conferences every time he stubs his toe or throws another mind-numbing interception. With Brent going to the leagues other Packer fan, the Einar claimed he was disappointed. Last year, Farf did everything he could to keep the Cubists from winning the championship, but like everything else he does he failed. This year, hell be dragging down the Brents once again. Sigh. The aforementioned Cubists were stunned when Owner Randy Chambers selected LB Donnie Edwards, who had been a Cubist selection in four of the last five years. That fifth year?, you ask. He was selected by the 44s in the 5th round in 2001 and proceeded to get hurt. Donnie obviously loves Jamo. Moore filled his QB slot by selecting Marc Bulger, who led the 44 attack last year. It seemed a bit early for the Cubists to choose a QB, but the Edwards defection clearly stunned Moore.

Round 4
31. Laveranues Coles, NYJ WR Weaselicious Cookies
32. Jerry Porter, Oak WR Syracuse 44's
33. Thomas Jones, Chi RB The Ballbusters
34. Roy Williams, Det WR Weaselicious Cookies
35. Eric Moulds, Buf WR Einar's Lovable Losers
36. Drew Brees, SD QB County Coroners
37. Steve Smith, Car WR P-Miss Envy
38. Keith Bulluck, Ten LB Brentful Brents
39. Derrick Mason, Bal WR Bull City Bares
40. Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR San Francisco Cubists

The fourth round started rather quietly as the Cookies selected Laveranues Coles, whose name has finally been spelled correctly. Coles had an off year in 2004 with the Losers, but his escape from the Einar and his return to the Jets may have Laveranues singing about how he will surely be a fine player. Owner John Stoer tried to form a monopoly of Raiders with Jerry Porter, an annual tease. The only problem with the Collins-Porter connection that Stoer has concocted is that Randy Moss will be bogarting all of the TDs. Owner Rich Joseph made another potentially astute pick with Bears RB Thomas Jones. Jones started off 2004 in fine fashion with the Envy, but succumbed to injuries. This year, Jones must shake the injury bug as well as young RB Cedric Benson, who the Envy had actually targeted for their first pick. Benson, however, is very greedy and remained unsigned through the draft and until late last week. How will he ever learn the plays? Owner Dan Weitz was back in Round 4 using the pick he picked up in the running back trade to select WR Roy Williams of the Lions. Williams earned his pay with the 44s last year and had some moments. He may be held down somewhat by the Lions below average QB situation. The Einar continued to recruit receivers with the choice of WR Eric Moulds. The former Wookie was once a fine player, but now has a lot of wear on his tires. Knowing the importance of a quality backup QB, Owner Chad Nuss selected QB Drew Brees, who was also a Coroner in 2004. Nuss wouldnt have to worry about the odd goings on with Keeper QB Trent Green and the shunts in his leg, but Brees recently sprained his ankle. Maybe a third stringer is required? The Envy made a potential value pick with WR Steve Smith, who is returning from a busted knee suffered early in his 2004 Ballbuster season. Smith, Clayton, and Chad Johnson may form one of the more potent WR trios. The Brents tried to stem the tradition of the annually inept defenses with Keith Bulluck, a 6th round pick of the Cubists a year ago. Last year, Johnson also selected a linebacking Keith Brooking with the 38th pick. Owner Randy Chambers brought back last years first round pick, Derrick Mason to become his third WR this year. Mason may have been downgraded somewhat because he is now receiving passes from the mediocre Kyle Boller rather than the sublime Steve McNair. Owner Jason Moore seems to like #2 WRs because in Larry Fitzgerald, he has his second (Reggie Wayne). Perhaps Moore believes that Terrell Owens will demand the ball on every play and there wont be many passes left for the others to catch. Nevertheless, Fitzgerald has a lot of upside and should do better in 2005 than he did as a 5th round selection by the Envy in 2004.

Round 5
41. Lee Evans, Buf WR Weaselicious Cookies
42. Ed Reed, Bal DB Syracuse 44's
43. Travis Henry, Ten RB The Ballbusters
44. Deion Branch, NE WR Peaks Island Wookies
45. Kevan Barlow, SF RB Einar's Lovable Losers
46. Drew Bennett, Ten WR County Coroners
47. Jeremy Shockey, NYG TE P-Miss Envy
48. Alge Crumpler, Atl TE Brentful Brents
49. Mike Vanderjagt, Ind K Bull City Bares
50. Ray Lewis, Bal LB San Francisco Cubists

It looks like Owner Dan Weitz may want his offense to go pass wacky as he selected his teams 4th WR in Lee Evans, who finished the season with the Cookies last year after being drafted by the Brents in the 13th round. Evans did go to school at Wisconsin, which also produced Al Toon. The 44s selected reigning Sweeney Award winner Ed Reed, formerly of the Envy. Apparently, Cubists Owner Jason Moore had been thinking of selecting Reed and applauded Stoer for the quality pick. Reed did benefit from lucky scored TDs, but who is to say that he cant do it again? The Busters selected their third RB of the draft and 4th overall with Travis Henry, who had been with the Cookies for the last three years. Henry should get some playing time with the Titans if nay when Chris Brown goes down, so he might be a good pick for just about the same time that Thomas Jones loses his starting spot. The Wookies selected hometown favorite and Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch. Branch returns to the Wookies from last year. The Einar chose the starting runner on the leagues worst team, Kevan Barlow. Barlow, a first round choice of the Cubists last year, used to be a tease. Now, he is just a bust. The Coroners selected their first WR of the draft in Drew Bennett, who scored 6 TDs in two games last year and 8 for the season. Bennett appeared with the 44s and Busters last year and benefited from the quarterbacking of Billy Volek. Owner Perry Missner became the first owner to bring back one of his rejected 2004 keepers in TE Jeremy Shockey, who was instilled with a look-at-me attitude at the University of Miami. Shockey was the first tight end selected in the draft. The second tight end selected in the draft came in the next pick as Owner Steve Johnson chose Alge Crumpler, another disappointment for the Cubists who held his rights in 2004. After the first tight ends were selected, it was only a matter of time until the first kicker was selected, and it wasnt even by the Cookies! The Bares selected Mike Vanderjagt, who was with them in 2003 for their co-championship. Vanderjagt had a subpar year in 2004 with the Busters. The Cubists were finally able to shrug off the loss of Donnie Edwards and started to staff the defense that was top rated in 2004 with Ray Lewis, a three time Sweeney Award winner. Lewis was kept by the 44s and later traded to the Envy last year. Some say that he has lost a step, but no one is willing to say it to his face.

Round 6
51. James Farrior, Pit LB Weaselicious Cookies
52. Cedric Benson, Chi RB Syracuse 44's
53. Donald Driver, GB WR The Ballbusters
54. Charles Rogers, Det WR Peaks Island Wookies
55. Aaron Brooks, NO QB Einar's Lovable Losers
56. Rodney Harrison, NE DB County Coroners
57. Larry Johnson KC RB P-Miss Envy
58. Derrick Brooks TB LB Brentful Brents
59. Ronde Barber, TB DB Bull City Bares
60. Takeo Spikes, Buf LB San Francisco Cubists

Noticing that his defense was bereft of players, Owner Dan Weitz decided to rectify the situation with returning LB James Farrior, who had some sweet games for the Cookies in 2004. The 44s set out to make an enemy in the Pizza Bowl by selecting Bears rookie RB Cedric Benson who was in the midst of a holdout. Owner Perry Missner cried, Before this idiotic holdout, I had him pegged as my number one pick. However, he is going to be in the doghouse for awhile and might get limited play if Thomas Jones can stay healthy. He'll still be great once he signs his dumb contract. Unfortunately for Owner John Stoer, his patience with Benson did not survive the holdout, which last just long enough for the team to cut Benson in favor of Madius Williams. Benson was subsequently picked up the Brentful Brents who had a waiver claim one number higher than the Envy. Trade negotiations are in progress to straighten the situation. The round took an even more disastrous turn for the worse as Owner Rich Joseph made his first big mistake of the day: the selection of Dickless Driver. Driver is not only slow and old, but is an awful actor in far too many TV commercials as shown in the Wisconsin area. Hes approximately one eighth the actor of Mike Ditka, and let's just say that Iron Mike doesn't have a great deal of range. The Wookies selected their third consecutive WR in Charles Rogers, another highly talented player who has had trouble staying on the field. All of this injury prone talent could come back to haunt Owner Will Mitchell. The Einar selected his second running QB of the draft with Aaron Brooks. Brooks used to be a mainstay of the Cubist organization but joins the Losers for the second straight year. He will have to become accustomed, however, to being the backup for Michael Vick. Owner Chad Nuss made his second defensive selection with Rodney Harrison, who used to play for the Coroners back in the day. Harrison has surprise, surprise played for the Wookies the past two years. Another backup RB was selected by the Envy in the person of Larry Johnson. If nay when Priest Holmes goes down this year, Johnson may show off a first round shine. Another former Sweeney award winner (and the last of this draft because 1998 winner Chad Brown was not selected) was taken when the Brents chose LB Derrick Brooks, the 2000 and 2002 winner. His better days are probably behind him. While Owner Randy Chambers did not have a chance to bring back Tiki, he did the next best thing by selecting Ronde Barber, who played with the Cubists and 44s last year. It was about at this time that a bug crawled directly into the anus of Chambers as he noticed the slow pace of the draft. He began badgering his co-owners to select more quickly because the duties of an owner begin quite early in the morning for the Bare camp. Chambers also commented that you put a drink down on the coffee table without a coaster. Please don't do that! Round 6 was concluded when the Cubists brought back LB Takeo Spikes to clean up any messes that Ray Lewis leaves behind.

Round 7
61. London Fletcher, Buf LB Weaselicious Cookies
62. Jerome Bettis, Pit RB Syracuse 44's
63. Adam Vinatieri, NE K The Ballbusters
64. Carson Palmer, Cin QB Peaks Island Wookies
65. Dallas Clark, Ind TE Einar's Lovable Losers
66. Sebastian Janakowski, Oak K County Coroners
67. T.J. Duckett, Atl RB P-Miss Envy
68. Plaxico Burress, NYG WR Brentful Brents
69. Duce Staley, Pit RB Bull City Bares
70. Randy McMichael, Mia TE San Francisco Cubists

The seventh round started with the selection of the second Bill LB in a row: London Fletcher to the Cookies. Fletcher spent last year with the Weasels mortal enemy, the Einar, so perhaps London will give his team a few inside tips on how to beat the teams long time nemesis. Owner Randy Chambers was further infuriated when his fellow Sidwell Friend, Owner John Stoer selected Steeler RB Jerome Bettis. Chambers screamed out, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, then warned Stoer dont cut him this year, like you did last!! Stoer vowed, Never again. Well see as Bettis has already gone down with a strained calf. Later, Chambers noted his disappointment, yelling, $#&%# Stoer!! The Busters grabbed their K Adam Vinatieri who toed the pigskin for the Cookies last year. Owner Will Mitchell was disappointed not to get Vinatieri, but did not hesitate in selecting QB Carson Palmer, a nice value pick who could turn out to be a decent first string QB. The Einar took his tightend, Dallas Clark, who could also be a nice value if he can stay healthy. Remember, he has no Marcus Pollard to compete with for playing time. At long last, the Coroners mollified the County faithful by selecting a Raider fan favorite Sebastian Janakowski, who spent his first year away from the Coroners last year, backing up Vinatieri in Weaselicious country. Nuss exclaimed that the surprise of the draft was that he did not select more Raiders. Janakowski would be the only one. The Envy continued their run of selecting backup runners with Falcons co-RB T.J. Duckett. He is big and scored four TDs in one game last year, but he has never cooked quite evenly. The Brents selected a WR for the first time since round 2 by choosing Plaxico Burress, who spent last year as a member of the Biers. With the Bus off the board, Chambers needed to have a bit of the Steeler running attack and took Duce Staley, who split his time last year between the 44s and Cookies. As it turns out neither Duce nor Bettis will play in Week 1. The Cubists chose a former Bier as their 2005 tightend in the person of Randy McMichael. It is a good thing the Bares have Randy Moss or else they might be Randyless (excluding their owner). McMichael had been on the Biers and Beers the last two years, so he may no a thing or two about Bare playbook.

Round 8
71. Steve McNair, Ten QB Weaselicious Cookies
72. Mike Anderson, Den RB Syracuse 44's
73. Dunta Robinson, Hou DB The Ballbusters
74. Dwight Freeney, Ind DL Peaks Island Wookies
75. Nick Barnett, GB LB Einar's Lovable Losers
76. Eddie Kennison, KC WR County Coroners
77. Derrick Johnson, KC LB P-Miss Envy
78. Mewelde Moore, Min RB Brentful Brents
79. Jake Delhomme, Car QB Bull City Bares
80. Matt Hassleback, Sea QB San Francisco Cubists

The Cookies were hoping for a leg up on the competition, any competition, so they selected famed Cubist-slayer and a man made of 75% bionic implants, Steve McNair. Na-na-na-na-na. The 44s started to bug the Cubists with the selection of Bronco starting RB Michael Anderson, the 2000 Wunderkind Award winner for his brilliant season with the Envy. Anderson has been largely unavailable since then, but if he is starting for Denver, he makes a brilliant quality pick for the 44s. Just brilliant. Speaking of the Envy, the Busters selected a 2004 Envy D-flex member, Dunta Robinson, who had a memorable 19 point performance last year. Nice pick! He was the first defensive player selected by Owner Rich Joseph. The defense continued with the Wookies selection of Colt DL Dwight Freeney, causing Owner John Stoer to double over in pain. Stoer commented, I was torn between Bettis and Freeney in rd 8, but I figured that the Bettis of last year would be of more value. We'll see. I'll probably cut Bettis in week 2. The defensive run continued to three as the committee selected dancing idiot LB Nick Barnett for the Losers. With the dearth of talent around Barnett, he is going to be plenty busy, if he can stay healthy. Barnett was the first defensive player selected by the Losers. The Coroners went back to the tried and true by taking Eddie Kennison, who they selected last year in the 12th round. The Envy turned the draft back to the defense by selecting Chiefs rookie LB Derrick Johnson. Owner Perry Missner was happy to get him: I kept waiting to take him, but he was still available. He should make a lot of plays for the Chiefs. Note to Steve Johnson, the Envy now have two Johnson, while the Brent roster boasts none. Speaking of the Brents, they selected backup Viking RB Mewelde Moore, who played for them in 2004. A starting nod would make Moore a value pick. Owner Randy Chambers named local boy Jake Delhomme as his back up to Culpepper. Delhomme was selected in the 9th round last year by the Cubists, but is a better actual QB than fantasy. Following the trends, the Cubists selected their backup QB, Matt Hassleback, a former Brent. Hassleback excels at relaying plays to the field, but gets a bit queasy when he has to actually play.

Round 9
81. Keith Brooking, Atl LB Weaselicious Cookies
82. Todd Heap, Bal TE Syracuse 44's
83. Mike Green, Chi DB The Ballbusters
84. Dan Morgan, Car LB Peaks Island Wookies
85. Jason Taylor, Mia DL Einar's Lovable Losers
86. Michael Strahan, NYG DL County Coroners
87. Byron Leftwich, Jax QB P-Miss Envy
88. David Carr , Hou QB Brentful Brents
89. Isaac Bruce, StL WR Bull City Bares
90. Jamie Sharper, Sea LB San Francisco Cubists

In Round 9, holes continued to be filled and flyers continued to be flown. The Cookies finished up their LB D-flex by selecting Keith Brooking. The 44s took a flyer on oft-injured TE Todd Heap, who was selected in the second round by the Cookies last year. Heap needs to overcome injuries and QB ineptitude to provide points for Syracuse. The Busters continued to flesh out their D-flex by adding a second DB, Bears safety Mike Green, who may not be as prominent this year as last since a safety of a different color, Mike Brown, returns. Round 8 pick Dwight Freeney and Round 9 pick Dan Morgan may combine to form the nucleus of a tough Wookie D. Morgan, like others, has troubles with injuries though. The Losers decided to see if they could get some sacks from DL Jason Taylor, who was selected in the 10th round by the Busters last year. The Coroners brought back Michael Strahan for the second consecutive year as their second D-flex guy. A couple of backup QBs went in the next two picks as the Envy selected Byron Leftwich, a former Brent-Wookie-44, and the Brents selected David Carr, a former Cookie and 44. Isaac Bruce returned to Bull City for the first time since 2002 as the Bares 4th WR. Bruce was a 6th round pick by the 44s in 2004 and was later sent to the Busters in a trade. The Cubists finished stocking their D-flex with LB Jamie Sharper, who has moved up to Seattle where linebackers go to die this year. Sharper was a Wookie last year and like this year, a 9th round selection.

Round 10
91. Eric Shelton, Car RB Weaselicious Cookies
92. Sean Taylor, Was DB Syracuse 44's
93. Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB The Ballbusters
94. Jimmy Smith, Jax WR Peaks Island Wookies
95. Marcus Robinson, Min WR Einar's Lovable Losers
96. Mike Williams, Det WR County Coroners
97. Antwan Randel El, Pit WR P-Miss Envy
98. T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Cin WR Brentful Brents
99. Terrence McGee, Buf DB Bull City Bares
100. Rod Smith, Den WR San Francisco Cubists

As the rounds hits the double digits, the commentary decreases along with the brain power of the author. Nevertheless, Eric Shelton must have pictures of a naked Owner Dan Weitz in compromising positions because in just about every draft Weitz has been in, he has selected Shelton, the Panthers rookie third string runner. Of course, when the two runners ahead of Shelton are veterans of multiple knee surgeries, DeShaun Foster and Stephan Davis, the pick makes some sense. Safety first! At least, that is how Owner John Stoer is going to describe his D-flex with combined talents of 10th round choice and bon vivant Sean Taylor added to Ed Reed. The Busters named QB Ben Roethlisberger, the accurate dinker and dunker, as their backup QB for Peyton Manning. Owner Rich Joseph even spelled his name correctly. The Wookies began a run on WRs by selecting old salt of the earth Jimmy Smith. Smith was selected by the Wookies in 2004 as well, but it was five round earlier. The Losers took Marcus Robinson. Hes tall. The Coroners selected rookie WR Mike Williams of the Lions. Hes tall too. The Envy took this years roll the dice pick, Antwan Randel El, who may just step into Plaxicos shoes. Randel El also showed up on the Envy roster in 2004. Another #2 WR came off the board as the Brents selected T.J. Houshmandzadeh, causing QB Brent Farf to go agape. Farf complained to Johnson, How am I supposed to say that word? Johnson replied, Perhaps you can call him T.J. To which, Houshmandzadeh replied, No, please call me, Mr. Houshmandzadeh, causing Farf to go agape once again. This could be a new sitcom. The Bares selected Terrence McGee, who was highly rated by Yahoo. McGee showed up on the Brent roster in 2004. The Cubists salted Round 10 away by selecting old vet Rod Smith, a Cookie in 2004.

Round 11
101. Troy Williamson, Min WR Weaselicious Cookies
102. Jake Plummer, Den QB Syracuse 44's
103. Lee Suggs, Cle RB The Ballbusters

The Cookies started Round 11 with their second consecutive rookie Viking WR Troy Williamson. He is tall. The backup QB slot for the 44s will be filled by Jake Plummer. The former Bier may be needed if Kerry Collins goes on a bender. Owner Rich Joseph took a dip into the Browns RB committee with Lee Suggs, a third round draft choice by the Cubists a year ago. The Wookies filled their kicking duties with David Akers, who was a member of the 44s a year ago. The Losers decided to punt their kicking game with K Ryan Longshanks. Would it surprise anyone if we told you he was on the Brents last year? Another Brown RB committee member was chosen by the Owner Chad Nuss when he brought back Ruben Droughns, who had some nice games for the Coroners in 2004. The Envy finished up their d-flex with Julian Peterson, who they hope is healthy. The third kicker of the round was chosen by the Brents in Jason Elam. Elam was the Loser K last year. Owner Randy Chambers finally selected a TE, Jermaine Wiggins of the Vikings. He may turn into Daunte Culpeppers favorite target, doubling the fun for the Bares. An ecstatic Owner Jason Moore nabbed Santana Moss with the final pick of Round 11. Moss was a first round bust for the Busters last year, but a place as a Smurf in the Joe Gibbs offense may be just what he needs to resuscitate his career.

Round 12
111. Mike Peterson, Jax LB Weaselicious Cookies
112. L.J. Smith, Phi TE Syracuse 44's
113. Justin McCareins, NYJ WR The Ballbusters
114. Jonathan Vilma, NYJ LB Peaks Island Wookies
115. Jeremiah Trotter, Phi LB Einar's Lovable Losers
116. Steve Foley, SD LB County Coroners
117. Antonio Bryant, Cle WR P-Miss Envy
118. Marshall Faulk, StL RB Brentful Brents
119. Braylon Edwards, Cle WR Bull City Bares
120. Brandon Stokely, Ind WR San Francisco Cubists

Value is the name of the game in the later rounds. If any of these guys get a start, it is gravy, baby! The Cookies finished up their defensive purchases with Mike Peterson, who went undrafted last year but turned up on the Coroner and Brent rosters. The 44s selected L.J. Smith as their backup TE in case something happens to Todd Heap. Smith was later cut for Steeler starting RB Willie Parker. Jets away! The Busters selected Justin McCareins as their 4th WR and the Wookies selected second year LB Jonathan Vilma as the third member of their D-flex puzzle. The Losers, not the Loosers, followed in kind with veteran LB Jeremiah Trotter. The third straight LB was chosen by the Coroners as they brought back Steve Axel Foley. The Envy selected the best WR the Browns had to offer, Antonio Bryant. They also selected him two years ago in the 10th round. Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Two time La-la-la-lafontaine MVP award winner and four time Cookie keeper Marshall Faulk fell to the Brents in Round 12. If he regains any of his magic MVP dust, he may be a sweet pick. The other Browns WR Braylon Edwards was selected by the Bares, and the round finished up with another value receiver, Brandon Stokely, being selected by the Cubists. Owner Jason Moore said he was happy to get the wideouts, Moss and Stokely, at the end of rounds 11 and 12.

Round 13
121. Jeff Wilkins, StL K Weaselicious Cookies
122. Matt Stover, Bal K Syracuse 44's
123. Charles Grant, NO DL The Ballbusters
124. Eli Manning, NYG QB Peaks Island Wookies
125. Amani Toomer, NYG WR Einar's Lovable Losers
126. Bubba Franks, GB TE County Coroners
127. Ricky Williams, Mia RB P-Miss Envy
128. Marcus Trufant, Sea DB Brentful Brents
129. Joey Harrington, Det QB Bull City Bares
130. Marcel Shipp, Ari RB San Francisco Cubists

Is it possible that the Cookies were down to their last pick and did not have a kicker? This is unprecedented! Owner Dan Weitz waited and waited, then sprung by taking Rams K Jeff Wilkins, who was a disappointment for the Biers last year. Because of his earlier trade, the Cookies were done, but Weitz stayed on to watch the final proceedings. The 44s solved their K problem in the penultimate round with similarly named Matt Stover. The Busters put the finishing touches on their D-flex with Charles Grant. The Wookies decided to back one #1 overall QB pick with another by selecting Eli Manning. Elis receiver Amani Toomer fell all the way to the 13th round after being an 8th round selection by the Cubists last year. When you dont score any TDs, that will happen. Owner Chad Nuss made his first critical error of the draft by selecting Packers TE Booger Frankfurter. P.U., Booger, that was you! The Envy brought back their second unkept 2004 keeper in Ricky Williams, whose 2004 season went up in smoke. Owner Jason Moore praised the Envy for their value pick. Owner Steve Johnson finished his purchases on the defensive aisle with the returning Marcus Trufant. The Bares became the only team to draft a third string QB with the putrid Joey Harrington, a Buster pick in the exact same slot last year. The Cubists finished off the round by taking Cardinal backup RB Marcel Shipp.

Round 14
131. Ben Watson, NE TE Peaks Island Wookies
132. Troy Polamalu, Pit DB Syracuse 44's
133. Donte Stallworth, NO WR The Ballbusters
134. John Abraham, NYJ DL Peaks Island Wookies
135. David Terrell, NE WR Einar's Lovable Losers
136. Dante Hall, KC WR County Coroners
137. Mike Nugent, NYJ K P-Miss Envy
138. LeBrandon Toefield, Jax RB Brentful Brents
139. Stephen Davis, Car RB Bull City Bares
140. Shayne Graham, Cin K San Francisco Cubists

With the final round coming one round earlier than last year, the last picks were not quite as irrelevant as they used to be, and there was some quality in this last round. Owner Will Mitchell used his extra pick to choose the heir apparent to Ben Coates, Ben Watson. Mitchell said that picking Watson made the draft a complete success. The 44s rounded out their Safety dance D-flex with Troy Polamalu, who appeared with the Biers last year. The Busters took a flyer on Donte Stallworth, who was a 7th round choice of the Envy last year. The Wookies finished off their draft in 2005 in the same fashion that they did in 2004 with John Abraham. The committee finally screwed the Einar by giving him the completely abysmal David Terrell, who will single-handedly tear down the Patriots championship reign. The Coroners selected return specialist Dante Hall, a player they chose in the 13th round last year. The last rookie of the draft was selected by the Envy when they took Jets K Mike Nugent. Fred Taylor always needs a good backup, but LaBrandon Toefield has never been too good. Still, the Brents selected him, then later cut him for Cedric Benson. Stephen Davis made his way back to Bull City, in what could turn out to be an excellent value pick. And, finally, Jason Moore finished off the draft by taking Bengals K Shane Graham Cracker. MMmmM, graham crackers.
