PMEF_PoK�BoYs' Beginners Guide To Playing Pokemon the TCG

~What do you need to Play ?~

1.)60 Pokemon Cards No more, No less.

2.)A coin for flipping.

3.)Damage Counters Ex. Rocks,Pennies,Dice,Marbles

~The Basics About the Cards~

1.) Weakness: is located on the bottom left of most cards. Example Clefairy is hit by Machamp for 60 damage. Machamps attack does double the damage which is now 120 HP damage.

2.) Resistance: is located generally to the right of the weakness symbol at the bottom. Example Clefairy is Resistent to Psychic Attacks so you remove -30 damage from all psychic pokemon attacks.

3.) Retreat Cost: is located at the bottom right of card. Example Clefairy needs 1 COLORLESS Energy DISCARDED to retreat If you retreat you must discard ANY ENERGY card amount during your turn "yes you can discard moe than 1 energy your turn."

4.)Attack: is found usually in the middle of the card. NOTE* you can only attack 1 time and when you do your turn is over. Example Clefairy needs 3 COLORLESS energy colorless meaning ANY ENERGY cards to attack and use Metronome "its attack" Your only allowed to put down 1 energy per turn.

5.)HP : top left stands for HIT POINTS or your HEALTH. Your HP decreases when your opponesnt attacks you. Example Clefairy's HP is 40 when its HP is gone it faints.

6.)Pokemon Power: Certain pokemon have this and you use this once per turn unless otherwise said on the card and yes you can use a power and attack during the same turn.

7.)Stages: Baby,Basic,Stage1,and Stage2. Exxample Baby and basic pokemon ONLY go onto your bench from your hand when you get a stage 1 card you can attach it to a Basic Card. Example BABY Cleffa Can evolve into BASIC clefairy and NO YOU CAN NOT Play a Stage 1 or 2 pokemon from your hand unless you evolve it from the right card. Example Geodude DOES NOT EVOLVE into Stage 1 Brock's Graveler Follow the words on the top right of the cards and read there pictures.

8.)Rarity: Circles are Common cards Diamonds are Uncommon Cards Stars are Rare Cards and Stars with a Holofoil Shiny card are Ultra Rare Holos. Example Clefairy is Ultra Rare Holofoil.

9.)The Sets: Cards which a "1st Edition" Stamp underneith the picture on the left are the first cards of that sereis and are Worht more and harder to find. The Set stamp is usually found underneith the card on the right although some cards drom the Base 1 sereis never had a stamp there.

~The Basics on the Game Play~

1.)Hand: Start your game off with 7 cards from your deck.

2.)Prizes: Usually 6 prizes are place to the side upside down, when you knock out an opponent you collect a prize.

3.)Discard Pile: Cards you discard and no longer are allowed to use unless otherwise usually placed Below the area of your deck near it facing up.

4.)Deck: 60 cards facing upside down shuffled. You draw 1 card to start each turn from your deck.

5.)Bench: Up to 5 Basic or Baby pokemon facing up before you decide who gos first n the game make sure the cards are upside down so your opponent doesnt know what you have then flip them all over when you start the game.

6.)Active Pokemon: 1 pokemon placed above the bench the one your using to currently battle with your opponent.

~The Basics on the Different Pokemon Cards~ 1.)Energies: Currently Water,Psychic,Fighting,Grass,Fire,Colorless,Lightning, Darkness,Steel These are cards you attach during your turn you can only attach 1 energy from your hand to 1 of any pokemon you choose during your turn. You cant attack unless you attach the sufficient amount of energy's the card says.

2.)Pokemon: A pokemon that fights for you as an active pokemon can be basic or baby.

3.)Evolution Pokemon: Bigger Stronger pokemon that evolve from baby and basic pokemon.

4.)Trainer Cards: You can use as many of these during your turn unless otherwise. Trainer cards may be Potions,Gym Cards,Switching and more.These cards are 1 time use only when your done with them discard them.

~Ways to Win~ 1.) There are 3 ways to win there are.. A.) Everytime your opponents pokemon is knocked out you get are prize the first person to get all of there prizes wins the game.

B.) You can win if your opponent does not have a pokemon on his/her bench or an active pokemon at the end of anyturn.

C.) And finnaly you win if your opponent runs out of cards to draw at the begining of his or her turn.

~What you can do during your turn?~ 1.)Draw 1 Card from yuor deck.

2.)Do ANY of the following in any order as often as you like unless otherwise said.

A.)Put a Baby or Basic Pokemon on the Bench no more than 5.

B.)Evolve a pokemon in play "NOTE* YOU CAN NOT EVOLVE DURING YOUR FIRST TURN."

C.)Attach 1 energy to any pokemon in play and only 1.

D.)Play Trainer Cards

E.)Retreat your active pokemon.

F.)Use a pokemon power "1 per pokemon"

3.)Attack with your active pokemon.

4.)Your Turn is Over now.

~How does Sleep,Confusion,Paralysis,and poison work?~

1.) Confused: You have to flip a coin to attack and retreat if tails and you wanted to attack do 20 damage to yourself if you wanted to retreat and its tails you dont get to retreat but if you flip heads your still confused untill you use a Trainer tha rids you of confusion or you Bench the pokemon "NOTE* Benching all pokemon Ends ALL status affects.

2.) Asleep: IF your asleep you cant attack or retreat you must flip a coin BETWEEN turns at the end of each players turn if heads your awake if tails your still asleep.

3.)Paralyzed: You can not attack or retreat at all you stay there until the end of your opponents next turn.

4.) Poisoned : YOU CAN BE POISENED AND CONFUSED and Poisend and ASLEEP, Poisened andParlyzed at the end of each players turn add 1 damage counter to your pokemon. YES YOU CAN BE POISONED AND ASLEEP and NO you can not be Paralyzed and Asleep if so the new status takes over the old one.
